Just wanted to say that I've had the same error showing up when attempting to edit a character. I'm running Desktop Windows 10, Chrome. 524 is a timeout error it seems, so the requested resources aren't being served within a valid time-frame. It's generated server-side, rather than client side, I think. Might be just down to the servers being hammered with users, but it does appear to be consistent (can't get into the character at all).
For context, I experienced this at around the same time that I also saw another user's characters in my Character section (including a Lvl 15 Tiefling Rogue called Kappa). I guess that might be a caching issue (where a dynamic page is improperly cached and served to another user, perhaps).
As an asides, if the Beyond team end up reading this - congratulations on making such an awesome system; I'm super impressed regardless of any bugs we might be seeing and can tell this is going to be a fantastic resource.
For the record, here's the error message, same as the OP:
I did get this error as well (ubuntu 5.4, firefox) but only if I'm trying to edit characters that otherwise bug (Druid, that I couldn't finish, and randomly generated Aarakocra sorcer 3 that did not finish loading). I tried creating a tieffling sorcerer and no error.
I have tried to view my character sheets on both Chrome and IE ( not even going to try Edge) and just get the red circle. On two separate Win 10 1703 PCs
Try using Shift+F5 to force refresh the page - there are a couple of issues with some spellcasting classes that staff are looking to fix when they get back online.
When I quick-generated a character this morning, that sheet loaded fine. When I manually created a new one 20 minutes ago, it won't show, on either my PC or my iPhone. I just get the red spinning wheel when I try to view the sheet.

Images dont export, and certian info like non prepared spells dont display - there are additional character sheet reworks coming shortly, so a lot of this should be addressed in the future.
I have this problem too, everytime i've tried to open any character sheet, whether its in campaign character sheets or my character sheets it won't work:( help

On PC, every time I try to open a character sheet, I get this:
Character Sheet Load Error
Error: Request failed with status code 524 at e.exports (https://static-waterdeep.cursecdn.com/1-0-6389-42793/React/CharacterTools/dist/characterSheet.bundle.min.js:25:3962) at e.exports (https://static-waterdeep.cursecdn.com/1-0-6389-42793/React/CharacterTools/dist/characterSheet.bundle.min.js:25:3815) at XMLHttpRequest.d.(anonymous function) (https://static-waterdeep.cursecdn.com/1-0-6389-42793/React/CharacterTools/dist/characterSheet.bundle.min.js:25:2779)
Might be worthwhile to include your browser version and OS. Mostly the browser however I believe - just in case it is something on your end.
I am running win7 and chrome without issues just for reference.
Based on a quick search however, this -might- be a cloudfare issue and not you, but I could be completely wrong.
It never hurts to include that info when you're having issues with the website itself like that. ^^
Have you had any luck on mobile, on your wifi and not mobile data? Your post makes it sound like the issue may be isolated to your pc.

Win10 and Chrome. The error appears after a bit of red spinny wheel.
I also get a character sheet loading error:

My browser console tells me:
NetworkError: 524 Origin Time-out - https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Varicus/characters/8746/json

My homebrew feat for thrown weapons, feat to help DMs extend Sorcerer's spells known list, and my homebrew combo monk subclass (diablo inspired)!

EDIT: Also same error on Android 7
