Is there anything in RAW that stops an artificer for making one of his infusions (specially the ones that are not copying magical items) a permanent one?
Your infusion remains in an item indefinitely, but when you die, the infusion vanishes after a number of days have passed equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1 day). The infusion also vanishes if you give up your knowledge of the infusion for another one.
You would need to never swap it out for another infusion, or die.
The question is if your DM will accept the idea that infusions count as magic item formula. Then you still need to get the special ingredient and spend the money and time. On the other hand that could mean you could have 19 different magic items as you can swap them out per level. That of course assumes you have enough downtime per level and the gold to afford it.

On the other hand, you could instead craft a magic item. Artificers of 10th level or higher have an easier time crafting permanent magic items.
