I am looking to make a pyromaniac goblin bard, whose name is Thadrirg Wispfoot, part of the gremlin/tinker goblin variant, and I need to decide what instrument that he could potentially play while running from enemies or storing under his arms as he frantically tosses out improvised explosives or molotovs. Any suggestions? I am thinking about an accordion or hurdy-gurdy, but I am open to any ideas.

Accordian. A very specific mechanism that releases on the sides to drop bombs / mines as you flee to your hearts content.
...in fact, you could name it "Hearts Contents".
Because it...shows the contents of your enemies...their hearts go flying out the...
A sewer-dwelling, vigilante Sword Bard who was an urchin. He fights crime at night; masquerades as a harmless street performer by day.
Handles a lyre...but his sword twists out the neck of the instrument, while the body of the instrument has an intricate mechanism which folds into a makeshift shield.
You could always craft an attachment to the bow of a Viol that snaps in place on a rapier or other form of sword, turning the sword into a bow for the instrument. At least, that's an idea that I had.
I have played multiple different characters with kazoos.
1. Dragonborn Rouge, played the kazoo once, a creepy satyr showed up and he never played the kazoo again
2. Half-Orc Barbarian, was raised by wolves and could not speak common, used the kazoo to express emotion and play memorial songs whenever someone died
3. Tiefling Bard, when ever made a charisma check or used the kazoo, rolled from the sorcerer's wild magic chart
4. Halfling Bard/Rouge, only weapon is the kazoo, no attacking spells, just the kazoo
I have a kazoo in real life to annoy my party and Dm when playing these characters.
The bard I'm building now is proficient in the lute, lyre, and flute, the lute being her main instrument. However, I'd love it if D&D/D&DB made the theorbo available! It's basically a lute with a really long neck and extra bass strings for a greater range of sound. They're really long, but modern ones have a folding neck so that they're the same size as a lute to carry.
You can go traditional:
Or you could go a bit more hardcore:
I just love the image of a bard whipping out a theorbo, flipping out the neck with a flourish, and rocking out.

Trombone. Every time he bows, a Molotov comes flying out :)
Extended Signature! Yay! https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/off-topic/adohands-kitchen/3153-extended-signature-thread?page=2#c21
Haven’t used this account in forever. Still a big fan of crawling claws.
I had a friend who played a triton bard who knew the bagpipes, the kazoo, and the greater kazoo.
My bard plays the otamatone & accordion. My party/dm think he''s hilarious purely due to the instruments he plays.
Not as eccentric as some of the choices on this topic, but I'm playing around with a Bard that uses Castanets while primarily being a dancer
I wish there was a like button
Real-world instruments that should be considered weapons:
Breton Bombard - kinda like an oboe but _loud as eff._
Erhu - Chinese fiddle that pierces skulls with ease.

Accordians are festive, too.

What if, somehow musical farts.
I have an otterfolk Bard that plays an accordion. It's cute as hell and he love to make people smile
I play a Half-Elf Whispers Bard, he uses a harmonica. Doubles as a handy club in a pinch
“Basically, if you tell anyone, we’ll kill you. We’re pretty good at that sort of stuff”-Salros Viper, Whispers Bard, paid assassin

This is what my wood elf bard uses. Marked it down as a dulcimer, though i think a harp/lyre would've probably been closer...

Now I'm thinking I should've chosen Sleep instead of Hold Person as a control spell ("nuku" is the imperative of "sleep" in finnish).
