So trying to add a folding boat to my inventory, it adds it as a new category of the inventory management sections listed on top instead of adding it as an item in the normal list. How do I fix this/appease the gods?
The folding boat is a container. It will work like other containers.

If in your inventory, you have it. If you have left the boat somewhere, just customise it and change name/note to state this. Or if not left somewhere and it's been taken, remove it.

When I am using DND Beyond as an organizational tool, I want a list of magic items that is a list of all magic items in list format. Stop telling me what I do and do not need, because it's condescending and useless
The purpose of a character sheet is to track items your character has. So I assumed that is what you are doing and for that purpose of tracking whether your character has the folding boat or not, you don't need to have it listed specifically under equipment as it is already in your inventory where you can track it neatly.
If you want a list of "all magic items" - why are you not using a search? You can go here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items and see all magic items.
Sorry, if I'm missing something but you're not being clear. Also, I'm just trying to help, you don't need to be a dick about it.

Ah. Well OK, that is not possible that way. You could use Other Possessions note box to manually type the list there but I imagine that might be cumbersome. It is, regrettably, the only way to achieve that, however.

A list of all magic items in the characters possession, in a single easy to reference list on one place on that sheet
It’s there, they just also mixed in all of the character’s nonmagical items and labeled the whole list “Inventory.” (Even before the update that enabled containers it was a little jumbled because common magic items got filtered in with mundane equipment alphabetically instead of listening at the top right beneath the uncommon items.)

Right, but how do I get it to show up in my normal item list?
You can't.
You don't need to.
