So I've been going through the Wizard subclasses and making Archmage level npc's, but with the specializations and abilities of the subclasses. Making some homebrew with some flavor. Went through the first 3 and it seemed fine. But ever since I started making the spell school subclasses(abjuration, conjuration, etc.) they've been showing up with the additional term "(Legacy)" next to them when I look up Archmage to make the next one. Why is this happening automatically, and only in the drop down menu for looking up monsters to craft homebrew after?

Hey y'all, I'm Okashido and I'm super into D&D. I like making characters(to the point where I have a doc about 100 pages long filled with character ideas.), am an aspiring actor in college, and also consider myself a storyteller and actor at the table. I enjoy making characters with backstories and watching them play off of other people. I roll with the punches and am a great Improviser. I can DM, but think my strengths lay in being a Player most. Hope we can all have fun and maybe play some games.
You have peered beyond the veil and glimpsed the future.
MP:MotM is going to reprint a ton of monsters with altered stat blocks. The new and old stat blocks are planned to coexist (because WotC can't charge for errata that updates automatically on DDB) and this must be how they plan to distinguish the 2.
Homebrew Monster creation. It appears at this point that the problem has been solved on someone's end. Thank you. It's possible that DxJxC might have been right, that a naming thing for a future book got caught by accident.

Correction, it is still occurring with the newer archmages I've made. Same place and situation as before.

I don't know how to share the screen shot through these or how to send it to them.

I saw the same thing yesterday and just found this thread. When choosing a base monster as template to make a new homebrew monster, my previous homebrew monsters have “(Legacy)” appended to their names.

I just reproduced it by making a monster templated off of a goat, and when I went to use my new monster as a template it shows as “Legacy” as well. It does not show as “Legacy” in either my Creations or Collection, but it does in the content creator:
thanks all and apologies for the delay in making it back to this thread with an update - I fumbled my survival roll and got stuck in a wilderness of meetings.
The relevant devs are aware, and are resolving.
As you've all guessed, this is in preparation for the release of Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse - in this case however, we'd not caught something in testing and it was possible for homebrew content to be incorrectly interpreted as being "legacy content"
Please don't worry - your homebrew is going to be ok. 😊

Hi there,
please can you let me know where you're seeing the term legacy displayed? Is it the monster listing? Encounter builder? Extras on character sheet?
thanks

Try getting a screen shot for them.

You sure those aren't homebrew?
I saw the same thing yesterday and just found this thread. When choosing a base monster as template to make a new homebrew monster, my previous homebrew monsters have “(Legacy)” appended to their names.
The things I made in that picture were all homebrew, yes. What I didn't do was put the "(Legacy)" part in their names.

Hmm... I can't reproduce it.
Does it say legacy in your collections?
I just reproduced it by making a monster templated off of a goat, and when I went to use my new monster as a template it shows as “Legacy” as well. It does not show as “Legacy” in either my Creations or Collection, but it does in the content creator:
Creating Epic Boons on DDB

Now I’m even seeing it when I tried to use a homebrewed race as a template for another race:
