Tonight, I had a game, so I pulled up my character sheet on the mobile site. I rolled a 9 (before mods) for initiative, but after that every d20 result was a 4. I couldn’t believe it. Maybe one roll was different before a string of 4s came again, or maybe I rolled a different #sided dice, I don’t remember. Other rolls like spell damage seemed to work fine. After 6-8 rolls, I stopped using the site for the session.
I tested now to see if I was crazy. I opened the site again and rolled 21 times: the first was a 3, then twenty 4s in a row. Rolling multiple d20s gave a range of results. Then I rolled 2 strength checks, both 4. A single d20 for a custom role: 4.
Is this a known issue on the mobile site? I’ve used dndbeyond for all my games but usually I have an ipad or laptop.
Turning off dice sounds fixes the issue for me. The problem is older/less powerful devices can’t handle the 3D rendering for the dice animation. The animation isn’t just animation, the 3D physics are what determine the dice output. For some reason having no animation makes is always output 4. I think that’s what side the dice start on with the animation. So just turn off dice sounds and it should work.
