I have a new campaign coming together and I created an unassigned character for one of my players. Before the intended player grabbed the character, someone else (who is very technologically challenged) assigned themselves to the character (and has no clue how it happened...). Since this person cannot figure out how it happened, or how to undo it, how do I as the GM forcefully unassign him from the character (it was made on my account) to reassign it to the correct person? I'm sure I am just missing the GM control feature somewhere as I am new to DND Beyond.
Yeah, unfortunately he cannot figure that out (and wont). I need to find a way without relying on him (just got off the phone with him, wont happen). I would be honestly surprised and disappointed if there is not a way for the GM to reassign a character - seems like a big oversight?
There is no way without relying on them. Why won’t they simply unassign the character? It’s a 2-click process. They go to “My Campaigns,” click the appropriate campaign name, and then click the red word. Done.
Tell them to follow the link in the post I made above, then click the campaign name, then click “Unassign.” Or, if you send them the URL for the campaign (not the Join Link, the actual URL) then they can just follow that and click “Unassign” and confirm it and they’re done. My dog is clever enough to do that, literally.
HAH - he is my older brother and I am in my 40's (perspective on what we're working with here). I'll keep trying, I'm honestly shocked there is no way for the GM to accomplish this task (I realize you have nothing to do with the programming side of this) - seems a major oversight.
Well, guess I am likely going to have to delete / remake from scratch. Thank you for the feedback, at least I know how to get everyone else to do it if it becomes needed (this is my groups first time trying to play online, not going smoothly at all! LOL been a TON of issues with DND Beyond).
They have no method for a DM to do that as a safety precaution against a DM “stealing” a player’s character from them. It’s not an oversight, it’s deliberate.
Yeah, DDB is not the most intuitive system. Once you figure it out it’s a powerful system for most things, but it’s not the most intuitive.
Welp, while I have your attention - rather than starting a new thread, is there a place where I can see all of the characters in my campaigns overall stats in 1 place (much like the cards you can hand on GM screens)?
Ah, cards get filled out by each player and have all the basic stats on each character. You fold them over and can easily see all of the parties quick stats so you're not constantly asking. They usually include Ability Stats / Modifiers, AC, Passive Perception, Initiative, Movement, Max HP, and a few other items depending on which ones you get. I can load up the App in the Win 11 Android Subsystem and make it work that way :)

Thank you !
As the GM you cannot. That player would have to “unassign” the character so the other player could “claim” it:

Oh, he's trying to - LOL - he can't figure it out :( I know it's simple, but he is VERY challenged.

I’m unfamiliar with those cards you mentioned, but AFAIK, the only place to see all of the players stats together in one place is in the DDB APP.

Ahh, my table does everything digitally so we don’t have hard copies of anything.
