It took me 2 mins to note all my healing spells for my 20th level life cleric. I've spent nearly 5 times that amount of time picking a name.
Hey, I did not even know that was possible. What do you mean by "note"? Is it something where you can roll the proper value after fixing the formula value somewhere?
Hopefully you can appreciate where I'm coming from which is that I attempted to google how to fix this on my own, found nothing, then came to this thread.
There are a lot of people here who pay DDB for the functionality it’s supposed to provide, including me. Part of that functionality is providing accurate character sheets. You seem to be implying that no one should complain because it’s “not actually broken” because they never implemented it in the first place (which is baffling on its own, but that’s another topic).
I get that maybe it’s a small thing to you and you don’t really care if your character sheets are accurate because, hey, you can just add a note that tells you what to do. If that’s the case, why use DDB at all for character sheets when you can just use pen and paper? For the rest of us, we expect things to work correctly, and drawing constant attention to an issue that has been outstanding for years at this point is all we can do to make sure DDB understands that it’s important to many of us. I’m not sure why you find this confusing.
Just to throw a wrench in your "but I'm a paying customer" logic: the character sheet is free so it's operation wasn't something you paid for and Life cleric is a free subclass so you never paid for that either. The feature is described accurately on the sheet in the correct place which is all the sheet is ever advertised to do.
Having one feature automatically go and change stuff from other places, like spells, isn't something they advertised. It's something you can do yourself. You just want them to make it automatic for your convenience. That's it. I understand why you want that specific convenience, I don't understand why you think it's broken or somehow expect them to prioritise this for you when there's other more important stuff. If this was some big thing, a massive inconvenience you had to do, I'd be with you. But... It's not. It's super tiny, barely an inconvenience at all.
It took me 2 mins to note all my healing spells for my 20th level life cleric. I've spent nearly 5 times that amount of time picking a name.
As I've said, I fully understand wanting the sheet to do it for you. I don't understand why many are being pissy about it. It's one thing to politely say you also want the feature, it's another to be a dick about it. My posts are to the latter, if you think that means you, then that's on you.
It’s one thing to not care if it’s fixed or not. It’s another thing to troll people who do care. If you think it’s not a big deal then why are you on this thread?

Hopefully you can appreciate where I'm coming from which is that I attempted to google how to fix this on my own, found nothing, then came to this thread.
On the character sheet go to your spells and choose All tab. Go down the list to your first healing spell. Click it's name and a sidebar opens on the right. Click Customise and you'll see some boxes. One is "Notes". What you type in this box will appear on the sheet as a note to the right of the spell. Type in something like 'Bonus 2 + spell level heal" , highlight it and copy. Move on to the next healing spell, open sidebar, customise, paste into Notes field and repeat for next healing spell.
When you're done, everytime you look at your spells in future there will be a note to remind you there is extra healing, 2 + spell level, for it. There is no way to have this be a clickable roll but the math is simple enough it's not needed.
You'll find most things in that section of the character sheet has a way to make a note, be it attacks, actions or equipment. For equipment it can be especially useful as you can put in spell names for components, or designate where the item is like a backpack or bag of holding, and these notes are searchable. I play a lot of spellcasters so I make custom items on the sheet for my costly components and type in spell name in the notes - when I need to add or remove components for a spell I just type the spell name in the search and go straight to it - saves a lot of time.
It’s one thing to not care if it’s fixed or not. It’s another thing to troll people who do care. If you think it’s not a big deal then why are you on this thread?
1. There's nothing to fix. It's not a bug or broken. It's just something people want to have implemented. There's a reason this thread has been marked "Request" instead of "Bug" by the mods.
2. I'm not trolling and my posts don't come anywhere close to being such. Accusing people of trolling, whether correctly or not, is against forum rules. If you genuinely believe I'm trolling people then please use the Report button. However, giving an opinion in a conversation is not trolling. Somebody having a different view than you is not trolling. I'm not going to explain trolling to you here, it would become quite off-topic. If you need me to do so please PM me.
3. I'm on this thread to provide my observation and opinions - like anyone else. I was curious and genuinely confused by the amount of complaints and disrespectfully put posts all over some tiny thing you can already do yourselves. Even after the mods declared they're working towards a more convenient method people still continued to complain or make-up nonsense. Most of my posts, however, just seem to be me having to 'defend' or further explain my original posts, like what I'm doing here. But oh well, conversations can be like that sometimes. Still interesting enough for passing the time.
I still haven't had anyone actually explain it to me either. I don't mean why people want the feature implemented - as I get why and would like it myself - I mean those people who are so mad about the lack of this small thing that they feel the need to be rude and disrespectful to the devs. Why could they not just politely say they want the feature, make the notes and their sheet and wait - why do they instead rant and complain? Again, it's something you can already, easily, do yourself so the feature is only a very tiny bit of extra convenience - so the amount of ranting and raving over it is baffling me.
I'll try to put it another way to explain how it's coming across to me: let's say you're in a bar, somebody comes up and orders a pint of a particular brand of beer. The bartender provides them the pint of beer but apologises - they have run out of pint glasses so they have to provide two half-pint glasses instead this time. They should have more pint glasses soon hopefully before their next order. The person who ordered is still getting the pint they ordered, it's just presented in a very slightly less convenient manner.
I would expect people to express the disappointment through polite feedback, but show understanding, thank the bartender for still giving the pint and go happily drink.
What has been happening is people going into a rage, being rude, disrespectful and act like this is great tragedy of epic proportions and they will not stand for this injustice - they demand resolution right now!
Can you not see why I find that level of reaction weird? Especially given that the pints are free.

It's like saying paper character sheets are broken because they don't specify this bonus for you.
Writing a note, by text field or on paper, is the same either way. I have an 8 year old niece who knows how type in a text box.
I am having a real hard time understanding how impactful this is. If you struggle to remember the feature that is written in the features section, then add the note where its more relevant. Simples. You don't need to be experienced with D&D to know this - it's a base logic taught to kids and even kids these days know how to work a textbox.
I appreciate it would be nice for the sheet to do it for you, but really don't understand how thelack is some severe hinderance. It still works out better and easier than pen and paper.- and new people seem to manage with that just fine.
Please understand I'm not criticizing, I just don't understand this level and amount of complaints for such a miniscule thing that you can do yourself in minutes (less if you have less healing spells). And you only need to make the note if you struggle to remember the feature. And making a note would be something you'd do on a paper sheet. I understand wanting the feature, I just don't understand going "broken" and complaining.
Sure, in the grand scheme of things it is not a big deal. But we are asking for a feature that is part of the rules dndbeyond is supposed to mirror. It doesn't so we are asking for it, because we assumed it would work, given the high level of quality present in the rest of the product. We are (at least I am) paying customers too, which makes us feel like maybe we ought to voice our opinion in the forums provided for exactly such a purpose.
And we are getting feedback from the devs, which is nice.
So, hopefully I've explained what all of us are doing in this thread?
I understand wanting the feature, I just don't understand going "broken" and complaining.
It's sad having to explain this but OK.
My posts aren't about people going "I think this would be a good idea" or "this would be helpful, can you please add it" - my posts are directed to those saying "this is broken fix it now" , "it's been years why haven't you done anything" and so on.
Wanting a feature and asking for it is perfectly Okie Doke.
Demanding a fix for something not actually broken and insulting D&D Beyond over it, especially after they've said they'll consider it, is not OK by any standard.
This thread is filled - pages and pages - of complaints. Not requests. Complaints. For some very small thing they want added that they (very incorrectly) describe as broken. It confuses me.
You seem to be investing a lot of effort in complaining about us complaining.

I appreciate what you're saying and your positive advice to me, but it kinda comes with the territory of having a couple of thousand posts here. You're pretty invested in the product and all. I hope you won't take this as an ad hominem, merely presenting another, perhaps valid, point of view. That of someone with less than ten posts.

Let's not deviate off topic and devolve things into personal attacks. I also doubt there's much to be gained from arguing semantics between 'broken' and 'not implemented and thus working as expected'. Lauren took the time to clarify the situation, so if it looks like people are going to continue to attack each other, we'll be forced to lock the thread.
Lauren clarified the internal usage of the terminology, but didn't clarify the part where it sounded like the customer service rep said Disciple of Life was working on the back end, but users couldn't see it. Could you maybe provide some further clarification? We're going off what someone reported from a ticket, I don't even know if it's an exact quote from what the rep said or not. Was the rep referring to healing in general, or perhaps the ongoing development work to make the feature work, which just isn't ready yet? I would never expect DDB to keep a working feature hidden, so it'd be nice to know what they meant to communicate.

Hi pocketmouse,
The team is working to make the Life Domain Cleric bonuses function properly on the character sheet. Right now it doesn't work anywhere. We don't have anything hidden that is ready for release. As soon as it is functional we will update the character sheets and joyfully announce all over that it works!

That is where you are wrong regarding the paying customer side. Those who pay a MONTHLY subscription ARE paying customers. Can we get an update on this? Any ETA for a fix? It's been 2 months since we've been told that the team is working on it and have received no updates since. It would be great to be able to put this issue behind us.
The dev update from last week (I think, possibly the week before) says that they're still working on it, but Tasha's is taking priority. I would think that a lot of the work they're doing for Tasha's would fix this as well, so to hear that it's considered a separate aspect makes me wonder how they're coding things, but hopefully it's like, 97% related and just that last 3% is having to wait until after Tasha's is out.
