Just want to remind people that this thread is not for arguing and attacking each other over the validity or priority of this feature. I would also remind everyone to remember to be civil to each other.
I'm very sorry about the missing Life Cleric bonuses to our character sheets. As someone who loves clerics, and as a DM with a life cleric in her party, I understand how frustrating it is to have a core aspect of the character not appearing.
To clarify a bit, at the moment the bonuses to life clerics are not a feature that is currently implemented. They are not considered "broken", because that implies that the feature is there but not working properly. The development team is making much needed changes to the system right now that will allow these types of features to work on the Character Sheets.
The important part is that we are working to get this feature implemented, and I thank you profusely for your patience. I promise to share any updates I can.
It's been 3 months and we've received no updates as you promised. Can you please let us know what is going on? Do you have an ETA for a fix?

OboeLauren may not have update here, but I can tell you that each week in the Developer's update, Adam says that they are working on it currently. It probably got delayed when they needed "all hands on deck" for Tasha's, but it is currently being worked on as opposed to "on the list" for future work.
Yeah, we keep hearing that, but when a dev says "I promise to share any updates I can," I would expect that we would get updates from that dev. It would be nice to know where we stand or have an ETA. They have been saying (literally for years) "we're working on it" and more recently "no really, now we're actually working on it," but still nothing.

Actually, for years they’ve said “it’s on the list” which is different than “we are working on it.” In today’s update, rules exceptions (which he has said in the past includes life cleric) was on the “upcoming” list, not “work in progress.” So, either I misremembered which category it’s been under, or it got bumped back to “upcoming” due to the immense amount of work Tasha’s is requiring. With the exception of dice rolling in the app (which is a completely different team), everything on the “work in progress” list was related to Tasha’s.
Your (used specifically) experience of being assigned the class is very much not how D&D is meant to be played and most assuredly is not the norm. The starter adventure offers optional pre-made characters but does feature options for making your own. In all my years I've never once ever come across a DM dictating to the player what class they "must" take. I suggest not playing with that DM, it's terrible way to do things, and is not in the spirit of D&D 5th ed. The starter set includes the Basic Rules which details how to make your own character should you not want to use a pre-generated one. Those rules also detail the spirit of freedom and player choice. You should be free to play the race and class you want, as the rules encourage, at the very least. Any DM who doesn't allow that shouldn't be a DM - "newness" isn't an excuse, it's literally in the rules that players make these choices for themselves. DMs may narrow choices (like "only what's in the PHB" or such) but literally going "you will be this" is a NO.
I specifically told the DM that I would play any character that would be helpful to have in the group.. I will thank you to keep opinions about our DMs fitness to yourself in the future.
And I'm glad you're six-year-old niece has memorized the PHB. I'm still working on it, and I frequently forget to apply miscellaneous bonuses and penalties to my rolls. Please tell me more about how I am dumber than a six year old because it helps a lot.

So you’ve watched the update and still don’t know what’s happening? Wouldn’t it be nice if we got a clear, concise, detailed answer? That’s why I’m asking for an updated. Why do I keep getting trolled for asking for an update that devs have now literally promised to give us? Why do users continue to make excuses for Curse to not do what we’re paying them for? I really don’t think asking for an update on the topic that this forum is dedicated to is asking too much. Especially after a dev has promised to give updates and it’s been more than 3 months. I guess I’m just unreasonable or crazy and think a company should fix their software when it’s broken ( and no I don’t want to have another discussion about the semantics of the word “broken”).
Why do users continue to make excuses for Curse to not do what we’re paying them for?
Because we understand priority and the Dev's point of view.
Because this isn't something you're paying for. It's a free feature for a free subclass of a free class for a free character sheet tool.
Because we can we be patient as we know the devs are working on other more important things so we are happy to wait.
And for quite some time now Curse has nothing to do with D&D Beyond. This site is owned by Fandom Games.

It's important to note that Lauren isn't a developer, she's the amazing community manager who does everything she can to help keep the community informed about the various goings on.
As mentioned, the best place to get the latest updates on the D&D Beyond developments is the D&D Beyond dev update and Q&A. The developers themselves are pretty much too busy working to post updates on the forum.

Okay, sorry, community manager, not developer. So... let me re-word my request... again... to meet your corporate lingo...
Can we get an update and ETA for implementation from the employee who promised to update us, but has thus far failed to do so? Can we also get the update in the venue where it was promised, and not have to watch and/or read additional material, that may or may map not include the information that we’re looking for and definitely includes a whole lot of information I don’t care about?
It’s really frustrating to continually feel brushed off and just get excuses. Correct me if I’m wrong but it doesn’t seem like an unreasonable request to ask an employee to follow up on a promise.
They never give ETAs. The reason they haven’t updated us is because they won’t until they can say “It is now working.” Since it is not currently working yet, there are no updates to share.

I paid for the Players Handbook. I did pay for this content. Some have not. I have. I’ve been waiting 2 years (others even longer). I was patient for a long time and am quickly loosing my patience. When employees make promises I expect them to follow through. I’m sure the employee is a wonderful person, but they still haven’t followed through on a promise. It’s the dishonesty and apathy from all fronts that is frustrating. I understand prioritization and also understand the difference between prioritization and apathy.
I don’t follow their corporate structure... I don’t particularly care who the parent company is. It changes nothing about the content of the conversation. I’ll refer to them as “the company” going forward to avoid offense and confusion.
Please just fix the problem and stop stringing us along.
I have a crazy idea: adding a note to the disciple of life description on the character sheet that specifically mentions that DDB does not add this bonus yet?
It's obviously much better just to have the app do the work, but a warning would go a long way for us newbs.
So apparently I wasn’t listening carefully to last weeks dev update, as Life cleric was specially mentioned: I only remembered seeing the item on the slides. Here’s the transcript from that section:
General Features System.
We've talked about this one several times
but this is going to help prepare us
to do new rules coverage going forward,
character sheet updates, all those special rules
and exceptions, things like the Live Domain Cleric.
That is Q1 priority for us,
so we're going to be hitting the ground running and starting to tackle as many of those as we can in Q1.

Any new updates? I don't really have time to sit through and listen to more of the Dev Updates. I've heard numerous times that this was a first quarter priority. 16 days left in the quarter and haven't seen any changes. Was just wondering if we're still on track for first quarter resolution.
They post the transcript in illegible, covered-in-timestamps, impossible to skim format in the News & Announcements subform. Fortunately, Disciple of Life is close enough that it's a major bullet point listed outside the transcript as well, if you look at the latest post. However, still no firm ETA, so I couldn't say if it's going to happen before the end of the month.

I think it got mentioned as having to be paused while they worked on completing Tasha's in the last update before the Tasha's release.
