I'm trying to multiclass my character, but have run into a snag. When I click "add another class," I'm shown the classes, but all of them, except my starting class, say "Starting class does not meet multiclass prerequisites: DEX 13 (12)," even for those that don't have a DEX requirement.
I know I can just deselect the requirements option, but if anyone else has this problem, it should be looked into.
What I your starting class? When muliclassing, your character must meet minimum requirements for both their starting class and the class they want to add. It sounds to me like the issue is that your starting class requires a higher Dex than your character in order to multiclass.
That is why you can't do it with DND Beyond, but there is nothing in the rules that states you need a certain score in a certain stat as a STARTING character in a class. Those pre-reqs are for multiclassing only.
This should be changed as it is incorrect by the game rules.

You are partly right (about the not multiclassing part).
First sentence of multiclass pre requisites states:
To qualify for a new class, you must meet the ability score prerequisites for both your current class and your new one, as shown in the Multiclassing Prerequisites table.

Not sure I follow?
The D&D Beyond character builder follows the D&D rules.
Neither the rules or the builder have any restriction on ability scores for the starting class, in fact the class is chosen before ability scores are generated.
Agreed. That is in a part of the book that is an option.
Stormknight you can make a character but when you attempt to multiclass it will not allow you to add another class if you do not meet the prereqs it mentions in the Multiclass section.

Yes. Multiclassing is an optional rule, and DDB supports that optional rule fully. Multiclassing on DDB works exactly as the rules intend. Again:

just wanna say, the multiclass rule is dumb. if i start as a 6 str barbarian with a 16 wisdom, i can't switch to druid to be closer to nature. because i am not strong enough to be a barbarian, i can only become more barbarian until i am strong enough to not be a barbarian...

Well, I feel like a doofus. Yeah, that was the problem. Never came across it before, now I know why.

You can just turn off prerequisites
Agreed. Prerequisites for feats make sense, but for multiclassing, it’s stupid as ****.
My bard is super uncharismatic personality-wise, but I need a +1 charisma to go into any multiclass (which are fighter, warlock, and sorcerer)
