good spot, though I don't think it's because it's failing to use your character level over sorcerer level. As a test, I just created a 5th level sorcerer, with Ray of Frost and that has the exact same issue - the spell shows on the sheet as doing 1d8 damage, yet when I expand, it shows that it should do 2d8 damage from 5th level onwards.
I'm guessing that the code isn't in place yet to automatically display the upgraded damage based on level.
The cantrip only specifies 1d8 damage on the charactersheet, even though I'm using a level 20 character.
Not sure if I've set up the spell the right way (I originally created it from scratch, but then also checked it with a copy of acid splash) but though I've specified it increases damage in the appropriate section. I also tested out a few other cantrips, and while it shows that there are 4 beams for Eldritch blast, none of the other cantrips I looked at showed their scaling damage.
EDIT: Realized I needed to change the title to better show that I'd looked at other cantrips, not just my homebrew one.
Shocking Grasp when known by a character of 5th level or higher doesn't automatically change the damage dice to 2d8 in the character sheet while Fire Bolt and Chill Touch do
It appears that on character sheets the damage dice level correctly for the first cantrip listed (2 dice at 5th level, 3 dice at 11th level and 4 dice at 17th level) but any cantrips listed afterward do not do so.

Hi REG,
the team are aware of this issue and it will be resolved. :)
Hi on a related note, now that the system is live. Shocking Grasp is not showing up in the list of cantrips available to one of my players a 11th level Eldritch Knight. Is this a bug?
Hi on a related note, now that the system is live. Shocking Grasp is not showing up in the list of cantrips available to one of my players a 11th level Eldritch Knight. Is this a bug?
There were some cantrips that were missing bits of data that were preventing damage from scaling properly. I ran through the spells and noticed issues with a few of them, including Ray of Frost, Shocking Grasp, and Fire Bolt. Those have now been corrected and should be scaling properly in the sheet. :).
Same character, shocking grasp is now showing and placed on the character sheet. However, Fire Bolt which was on the character dropped off and now Fire Bolt is not available in the spell list for cantrips.
So i didn't want to create an additional thread hopefully this is fine as it relates somewhat to my issue.
When making a few homebrew spells mainly cantrips only, i have encountered a issue where D&D Beyond doesn't allow me to properly put in the at higher level, therefore causing the character sheets to reflect base level such as the issues with core cantrips as stated above. So I will explain in more detail,
I created a cantrip by the name of Soundlance and published it, you can search it and add it if you would like to see what I am talking about on the player side. Now when i go and edit the spell i have gone through and checked the box under the basic information that states AT HIGHER LEVELS SCALING, then I specified at two different incarnations of the spell or cantrip under the drop down box of HIGHER LEVEL SCALING TYPE, Both "character level" and "spell scale" as I never tried spell level as that reminded me of a actual spell rather than a cantrip.
So once i checked that box and selected the two; again at two different incarnations of the cantrip, i moved to the AT HIGHER LEVELS option of the spell creation below where you see MODIFIERS, CONDITIONS. to help hopefully further i added the damage modifier of 1d8 force damage to the cantrip and then saved it. Under conditions i added a Con save or deafened for 1 round effect to the cantrip
then I come to the main issue in the builder that i have seen thus far. the AT HIGHER LEVELS
now in the actual create an value section i have filled in the following
SCALING LEVEL VALUE MODIFIER TO SCALE SCALE EFFECT DICE COUNT DIE TYPE FIXED VALUE DETAILS * damage - force (1d8) Additional Count ** D8 - -
* the tooltip here states the following
if your spell scales by character level, enter the specific level where a change occurs (such as 5, 11, and 17 for a cantrip), there is more to it but that is the important part that relates to the issue
Now I have entered the following values and these are the response I am getting
5,11,17 - 5,11,17 is not a valid number.
5, 11, 17 - 5, 11, 17 is not a valid number.
5, 11, and 17 - 5, 11, and 17 is not a valid number.
5,11,and 17 - 5,11,and 17 is not a valid number.
5 along with 3 additional AT HIGHER LEVELS representing 11 and 17
** I have put in 1d8 for 3 different AT HIGHER LEVELS to represent 5th, 11th, and 17th level
I have put in 2d8 for 5th, 3d8 for 11th, 4d8 for 17th
Yet when I go into the spell after I am finished it always reads 1d8 force damage, and when i click on the spell to bring the side notation of the details of the spell it also reads 1d8 force damage. it isn't recognizing the higher level I am on the 3.0 of the spell i have made a few other cantrips by the name of Sonic Whip that is having the same issues. Now I can be content with it as in the descriptions i have made mention that there is an AT HIGHER LEVEL for the cantrips, but i like to provide a fully working functional spell or content for other players that works within the framework of DnD Beyond. So if Stormknight or a Staff Member can help me figure this out that would be greatly appreciated.
Also on a side note just wanting to piggy back another issue that i am sure is user error that isn't about spells but still about homebrew, when I made a Race
ISSUE - when I make the race and add the Variants as Variants i get all the variants as additional races for the class in the builder ( or at least I think that is how it came out or it may have been I couldn't add specifics to the variants ) when I add them as Sub races of the parent race Selqet they show up in the builder as separate races. What i am trying to achieve here is when myself or my players or someone of the community adds in the Selqet race to their library and then go into the builder that when they click on Selqet it opens a panel much like the Tiefling or Warforge or any other race that has a variant. Any illumination would be great, in how I can achieve this goal again to make it more stream lined for any community user or my players to use the race
sorry for such a long post hope to get help soon

My character is level 6, so Fire Bolt should do 2d10 damage. It is showing 1d10.

Tai-Ruth is how you pronounce it, or just Tai for short :)
Check out my homebrew stuff
Hi Tyriuth,
thanks for reporting - this is a known issue - the code to scale the damage hasn't been deployed to live yet.

Ah, thanks for that. I must've missed it when searching the forums.

Don't worry about it, much better to have something reported multiple times than not at all and thank you for the detailed report too! :)

When my player is at wizard level 5, the Ray of Frost cantrip damage is not increased to 2d8. Other cantrips are, eg Chill Touch
It appears that on character sheets the damage dice level correctly for the first cantrip listed (2 dice at 5th level, 3 dice at 11th level and 4 dice at 17th level) but any cantrips listed afterward do not do so.

Please note that this has now been implemented and the cantrips should all correctly show level-scaling damage.

Can you provide a link to the character sheet?

I could, but the bug is not showing up. All cantrips showing and accounted for. All good, thank you
This is now fixed on the interactive sheet, but is still incorrect on the exported sheet.
