Hi so I'm new to D&D Beyond and I'm trying to make a character with a homebrew race, but nothing is showing up homebrew wise for races. I'm pretty sure I allowed homebrew stuff to be used for my character, but how do I get the homebrew races to show up?
Are you trying to add a homebrew race to your character that you've created, or a homebrew race from someone else?
When homebrew is turned On for your character you'll have access to any homebrew in your Collection, which includes homebrew you have created. To use public homebrew, you will need a subscription (either Hero or Master tier) to add public homebrew into your collection.
Considering there are thousands of homebrew, I don't think you want all of it to show up on your character sheet without an extra step in between. (Plus 1 in 4 homebrews don't work right and 2 in 4 are poorly balanced).
I am having the same issue. I am trying to add a homebrew race to my campaign and I have the master tier subscription and I have saved the homebrew races to my collection and nothing comes up when I go to choose the race other than the normal races. I thought it was just the certain homebrew race that I was trying to use but I tried another two and still no luck...
On the character sheet, click “edit character,” tab all the way left to the “home” section. There is a toggle for homebrew content. That toggle needs to be on (red) or the character sheet will automatically ignore all homebrews. It so if you have multiple characters in different campaigns with different DMs who use different restrictions so that every character you make can have/not have stuff from sources they chose in their game.
I have that turned on as well. It is the race Aasimarian/Drow Dragon Souled. When I checked earlier, it had a postive rating and now it does not lol. It just sounded really cool to try out.

Ah. That one was probably rated so high because it did a lot, but all of those compounding modifiers probably glitched it out. When the ratings suddenly drop from high to 0 it often times means that the designer made edits and re-published so that’s for the new version. If the old on worked it still should, but with the change over to the new character sheet it could be a glitch.
I'm having the same problem with adding a homebrew race. I have the slider on and red. But the race Afflicted Humans, doesn't show up. I have a hero subscription. The race is in my collection. Together with two other races, Sheep and Sheepfolk. But none is showing up.

Re-save them and be patient. Saving the main race is what triggers the system to pick up any changes. Sometimes it takes time for the system to push the info through to the character sheet. You could also try turning homebrew off and back on in the character builder for the character.
How do I get a subscription (either Hero or Master tier) to add public homebrew into my collection. I am trying to add Arachne (Spider people who are not Driders) as my race.
From there you pick the one you want to use and click the [ADD TO COLLECTION] button. Once you have added Homebrew to your collection, then you have to allow homebrew on that character. On the Home tab of your character builder, the toggle next to “Homebrew Content” needs to be on (red, to the right). Once that is done simply go to the Race tab and you should be able to select any homebrew race in your collection in addition to your normal options.
When I go to click add to my collection it goes from blue to gray then it says requires subscription. Once I click on that nothing happens. I have already allow homebrew on that character. Nothing comes up.
As IamSposta mentions, using public homebrew content from others requires a subscription, which you can sign up for here or by navigating in the mega menu to Marketplace > Subscriptions.
You are also freely able to homebrew your own creations, if you would decide to rebuild the homebrew race yourself!
If I were to pay for one month and add the race to my character would I have access to the homebrew race content after that month is up? Or is it as long as I'm paying?

Once you add something to your collection it stays there regardless of subscription status.
I have home brew turned on but my race still isn’t showing up on the list. Am I doing something wrong?
Had you only recently added the homebrew to your collection? Try reloading the Races page now and see if it shows up.
Also make sure the homebrew race is in your collection, as it's possible to remove your own homebrew creations from your collection, which keeps them from showing up in the character builder. (Very handy when you don't want experimental stuff shared with other players in a campaign.)

If you created the race yourself, make sure there are no external links anywhere in your descriptions, racial abilities etc.

Hey B MellieDM,
How do I get a subscription (either Hero or Master tier) to add public homebrew into my collection. I am trying to add Arachne (Spider people who are not Driders) as my race.
If you have a sub, first you go here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/races?filter-name=Arachne&filter-author=&filter-author-previous=&filter-author-symbol=&filter-rating=-13
From there you pick the one you want to use and click the [ADD TO COLLECTION] button. Once you have added Homebrew to your collection, then you have to allow homebrew on that character. On the Home tab of your character builder, the toggle next to “Homebrew Content” needs to be on (red, to the right). Probably.
Make sure the homebrew race isn't set to have subraces and/or isnt a subrace without a parent race.
Make sure it is in your collection like Naru mentioned.
Make sure that if it is a subrace or variant of an existing race that you are actually looking in that race group for it.
