It isn't a question of "if" but "when." They will eventually, even if it isn't for another 6 years.
They are currently/recently making changes to the character sheet backend that makes some bug fixes possible that weren't before. Maybe this will be one of them, or maybe we will have to keep waiting.
I don't know if this helps in the meantime, but when I couldn't add an extra Cantrip granted by my character's sub-class I homebrewed a ring and attached the Cantrip to that. Might work as a patch?

I just homebrew the subclass and change the spell on that. Haven't had to for illusionist (gnome illusionist is a niche I haven't found myself), but I did for divine soul sorcerer which has a similar problem.
So it's just a feat that adds a wizard cantrip? I mean it is definitely a work around that has beed suggested before, but hardly worth publishing. And only people with subscriptions can even use it, while anyone with 5 spare minutes could make a workaround themselves (which isn't even the point of bug report threads in the first place).
Moreover you spammed this in at least 4 different threads (some of them necro'd). Can a mod combine these threads so if someone tries this again, at least my time is only wasted once?

Are you ever going to fix the bug to allow a forest gnome to pick another cantrip when they take the illusionist school?

You shouldn’t have had to do that. What subclass?

I added a homebrew feat to fix this bug.
