Okay I have tried to search on the forums for an answer to this, but can't seem to find a match. So sorry if this is a repeat.
I had a NPC that one of my PCs has as a follower now. As they have been adventuring they have changed from the NPC stats in the adventure. I have created an actual PC for her now and I am now looking for a way to add her to my main PC's extra list in place of her non valid stat block.
I can't find a way to chose from my list of characters. Anyone know a way to do this?
Thank you. Will look to do that. I would hope that in the future this could be an option, it would make it easy for building the follower and connecting them to your PC.

The system for creating followers is to make them using monster stat blocks. Characters built as PCs are supposed to be PCs, not sidekicks. There are already sidekicks for that, and they were designed as monsters, not characters. They will never implement a system to attach a PC to another PC as a sidekick.

What you want is impossible. You will have to recreate that NPC using the Monster homebrewer and add them that way.
