I recently made a magic item using the +1 morning star as a base for the item so that I would have the right modifier for attack and damage rolls. I make my item add whatever extra stuff goes with it and go to test it by adding it to my character, only for it to add nothing to the attack roll but a +2 to the damage roll. Is there a reason it did this? Or is this a bug.
Whenever you add, delete, or edit any modifiers on anything homebrewed, always remember to re-save the entire project using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under “Basic Information.” It can then take anywhere from Instantaneous all the way up to 20 minutes for those changes ton reflect on the character sheet depending on the server load at that time.
That's the weird part, I didn't edit the magic bonus in the modifiers section, it should have been the same as a +1 morning star. The character is a level 7 oathbreaker paladin so he has aura of hate allowing him to add his charisma mod to the damage roll. He has an 18 Strength and Charisma, with a +3 proficiency, so he should have with this morning star a +8 on the attack roll a +9 on damage. Instead it is displaying a +7 attack roll and a +10 on damage, and I cannot figure out why.
Do everyone a favor. Re-save the entire Homebrew like I suggested, then wait 20 minutes and check the character sheet again. If it’s still wonky, then come back here and post a link to your character sheet, and a link to your Homebrewed item so someone can look at them for you. Even if your magic item is not published, a Moderator or Staff Member can view it and tell you what’s up with it.

The item is setup to require attunement. The character hasn't attuned to the item, so doesn't get the bonus from it.
