I know that you probably get this one a lot, but it would be very nice if there was someway to scan in your physical books so that you could use content from them online. I personally have a large collection of the dungeons and dragons extension books and would really like to be able to use the extra races, sub-classes, etc. I know that this would come with some difficulties: first of all, people would end up scanning friends’ books. I would like to suggest that each book can only be scanned one time. Also, what about library books or books that haven’t been purchased yet? Unfortunately I’m not really sure about this one. I understand that this might not be viable, as I don’t know how profits work with D&D beyond and whether the company itself would be taking a cut of the earnings. Regardless, I know that I and many other users would really appreciate you thinking about something like this as an option.
Edit: sorry everyone, this was a dumb post. I sincerely apologize for wasting your time.

We do indeed get this a lot and it has already been explained countless times why this is potentially unappealing for Wizards, as they gain in revenue might not offset the cost. There is even a pinned thread at the top of this very subforum that goes into more detail that everyone should read thoroughly.
In my opinion, if you actually want change, post this on Wizards' or Hasbro's Facebook or Twitter page instead. Beyond has little to no leverage on these matters (if they did, we would see a lot more books/boxes like the Essentials Kit), so it is completely pointless to ask Wizards to change their business model here when Wizards does not even manage, muchless pay attention or read, these forums.
1) there is currently no unique identifiers for published books. While WOTC could, theoretically, decide to add serial numbers or the like to future published books, there is no way to give existing books unique identifiers to do what you suggested.
2) DDB is a separate company, and converting the physical books to their tool set and compendium reader is a massive amount of work that is still ongoing. If folks got access to that content for free, how would the staff at DDB get paid for their work?

A couple points I'll mention here:

2) DDB is a separate company, and converting the physical books to their tool set and compendium reader is a massive amount of work that is still ongoing. If folks got access to that content for free, how would the staff at DDB get paid for their work?
