So I am on day 2 of D&D Beyond access and having real problems with inventory.
So I have a Backpack, a bag of holding, 3 pouches, a horse with saddle bags a saddle and a horse blanket, as well as a permanent mining camp with supplies that has a handy haversack. I need them all to be separate to be able to mark what is mine, what I am carrying, what I am carrying and does not count against my weight (bag of holding or handy haversack), what my horse is carrying, what is in the saddle bags (that a horse is carrying or not carrying, in case I need to put it on an allies horse if mine dies or vise versa which happens a lot in our games) including what item its carrying might be carrying for possible handy haversack, bags of holding, or pouches in the saddle bags, what is at the camp and who it belongs to or if it is shared property, on top of that I am the group treasure and I keep the group coins jewels and other treasures of value only in the back of holding because its over 250 lbs, I keep my coin in a separate pouch so I can spend it with out asking, and last but not least I need to be able to let everyone see the group stuff but only me access what is mine and the group goods I carry so that other players have to ask to take equipment off my person (group or not) but don't have to ask to take gear from our camp (group or not), while at the same time letting the GM give access to another player if I can't make a game and/or access it for story reasons with or without telling me.
In short, I am going to have to play on paper even with D&D Beyond so its not letting go paperless and I am going to have to be the one guy still using all paper and copying everything to share drive after every game so if I can't make it they still have access to it all.
D&D Beyond is not Treasurer Friendly at the moment. Please help. I have a Dream of multifaceted multi-tiered group friendly gear management system where you can drag and drop layers from withing layers to within layers. Thank for your time and letting me vent.
Edit: If they implement inventory the GM can have hidden or visible but locked to GM control. The GM can also setup stores and "possible loot", then pass items to characters as they receive them to make life easier for the GM.

Containerized inventory is something the team says will be implemented with the character sheet revamp. Hopefully this will solve your problems when it's released later this quarter!

Thank you very much for the reply and hope!
This is however only 1/3 of the gear issue. Is there any word on the other two group and individual owner ship and access control? An example, Make a container of a Keep (group owner ship & access), Personal room in the keep (personal ownership, but group access), and Personal chest in that room (Personal ownership & personal access). This could also apply to group gear carried on a mule or person with saddle bags, bags of holding, packs, pouches.
Also, the 4th issue of Currency/Gems/Items of gold value like idols and paintings controlled as an object of placement from multiple locations tracked with a group total and individual total separately.

Perhaps for group loot and gear there needs to be an option for equipment lists for the campaign (not sure if there currently is one in the toolset). Thus it is tied to the campaign rather than any specific player. Adding to that list possible containers including personal character ones (like a locked chest or footlocker in a players room or other general space) that could potentially be accessed without the owners permission on the sly.
This could also help DM's remove objects if players gets things stolen/altered (or simply vanish for whatever reason) from these otherwise unattended containers (without alerting the players themselves).
My players are currently using an Excel spreadsheet for tracking gear and money. This is why I'm willing to donate to a blood transfusion and oxygen supply GoFundMe for the DDB dev team so that they can work extra hours in the day and at a higher intensity to get this revamp done sooner.

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
I had and additional thought of a way to improve this by adding a "lock" feature to containers, so that if your carrying a ransom, delivering funds, or simply have gold coin/gems are saving and want to get ride of you can lock it so that it does not show up as a payment option or for auto sell.
Additionally, If by default you could auto sell from gold (since it is heavier)
Possibly, add a button to shops for Persuasion / intimidation / Deception rolls that the GM can enable/disable and set a DC for, then the select success/failure price adjustment like
1-5 increase price 10%
6-10 increase price 5%
11-15 no price chance
16-20 price decreased by 5%
21-25 price decreased by 10%
26-30 price decreased by 15%
31+ price decreased by 20%
- of course you don't have to role in game just have the GM click for the price change based on the out come and do the math for the changed price(s).

I'd really like to see at the very least, a log for adding and subtracting money (the whole money management is a nightmare). If you have to pay 1,000 gp for an item but you're going between gold, platinum, and silver and trying to make them add up, and doing it all while playing so you're trying to be as fast as possible, one mistake or typo can completely mess you up. If I hadn't written down what I started with, I would have had a huge mess on my hands in my last game when I messed up. A log would be nice, but even nicer would be (add/subtract X gold -> a bunch of sliders that you can weight toward the coins you want to spend more of, etc.)

That is an awesome idea....If I could do that as part of buying from a GM shop even better. Drag what you want into the left and how your going to pay with estimated value at the bottom, GM and player agree and its all taken and added into inventories appropriately. Maybe a new items inventory so you can drag it to where you want without having to hunt through all your gear to move it.

So I really love the new character sheet design... however... Containerized Inventory was not part of it... is their any chance you can still confirm that is in the pipe? Possibly any sort of party gold/inventory? It seems like at minimum, dividing Equipment's "Inventory", "Attunment", & "Other Possessions" something like "Equipped"(For clothes, armor, and worn magic items), "Carried"(for most other standard gear and non-equip-able magic items), "Available Not Carries" (For equipment in bags of holding or saddle backs, etc that don't add to weight for encumbrance), "Attainment" (as is), "Other holdings" (as is for equipment and gear at camps or houses).
The Containerized Inventory would of course be way better but a bigger project. Also..
1. Drag-able inventory so we can easily slide from one to another
2. Being able to rename the same item twice. (I was going customize the name and weight of pouches, then list their contents on "Other Possessions" which would be a little annoying to track but a possible work around but the pouches stack and renaming one renames them all. I tried deleting one, renaming the existing one, then adding a new one and it still stacked with the one with the new name) Might try making my own items for the same approach but I don't have time right now and my character is already in a campaign so I am not sure If I can not being the GM.
3. "Carried Party Assets", "Non-carried Party Assets" on a Party Equipment tab shared in the campaign would be nice where they have something like attunement where you mark them if your in possession of then (carried or not) but its grayed out if someone else has possession.

The first reply I got was that the character sheet revamp would have inventory management... it didn't. A year and a half later there is still no sign of inventory management and/or any group party inventory..... any hope out there? …I don't believe the road map stating "inventory management enhancements" because it keeps getting passed over by ANYTHING else that they add. Like putting it on the list is to stop the comments but their is no intend to implement. We will have dice rollers and tabletops before I can actually use the character sheet. Just about everything in the in progress and upcoming list are lower priority and newer requests for additional unnecessary addons that are quality of life but do not impact the use of D&D Beyond as a player character sheet. …. a base function of the character sheet is over looked because some people don't use it. Been driving me slowly insane.
Just venting. had do get it out. … twice. lol. Still clinging to hope but I am trying to let go a move on like my friends.

DM: Three separate games of Lost Mine of Phandelver x Dragon of Icespire Peak x Tyranny of Dragons x Kobold press one-shots x homebrew content
