I have equipped the Staff of Defense, but my AC has not been updated. Is this a bug?

I have temporarily worked around this by adding a custom +1 override to my AC.

Also, when I use the charges to cast Mage Armor, it does not appear to update my AC.

Temporary effects like Mage Armor are not implemented yet. You need to attune to the staff, to get the +1 bonus to AC.
