This! And allowing for Point Buy etc to be modified to allow for the extra stat(s). We use Sanity, and this would be wonderful!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"I like my steak, like I like my adventurers....bloody."
Been playing D&D since 1989, when I ran my first AD&D 1st Ed game, and pitted five 20th level characters against a single Troll. It's been downhill ever since...
For the export PDF character sheet, can the text boxes be changed to be Rich Text? That would allow us to change the font sizes, and thus fit more info in the boxes (I like to have summaries of various abilities, so I don't have to memorize them or forget how something works).
I play a druid in one of my games. I find it increasingly difficult to deal with my Wild Shape due to the necessity of having to keep different animal stats on hand (or thumb through the PHB to find a creature) every time I want to change form.
This got me thinking about the upcoming D&D Beyond Character Sheets. It would be hugely awesome if there was a Wild Shape/Shape Shift/Polymorph panel built into the character sheet that slid out and offered a dynamic list of creatures (based on your druid level / CR rating of the creature) that you could choose from and it would immediately pull that creature's stats and display them. In addition to the stats being displayed, a hit point counter could be used to track that form's HP independently of your character's HP. I don't know if there will be an online dice roller built into the sheet, but if there is, it would also be handy to have the selected creature change your dice to match that creature's attack/damage rolls too.
What are your thoughts? Any other wishes regarding the upcoming D&D Character Sheet?
I saw a couple comments from BadEye shortly after this was posted stating that it is a good idea or was already being implemented. Is this true? If so how do I make this work in the character sheet? I can't seem to figure it out.
Not at at launch, but soon after. Our priorities for this week (starting Wednesday) are the Backgrounds revamp, familiars/companions/wild shape, and then some of the layout changes we have mentioned for the builder and sheet. Those won't all be done this week, but that will be the order we tackle them.
Badeye posted this a few days ago so it should be right around the corner!
I'd love to have the ability to pin an arbitrary piece of descriptive text to my sheet (online and PDF). For example, if I am building a tough guy, I might want to have a few rules like grappling and jumping printed right there on my sheet. These would look just like class features or racial abilities, but could be pulled from elsewhere in the rulebooks... or even just typed in manually I guess.
Are there plans to add descriptive text to the list of abilities and features on the PDF sheet? For beginner players, having the complete (or a summarized version) of how the feature works right at their fingertips would be huge.

Yes there are!
More comprehensive character sheets are in the works!
I'm relatively sure that since there's no such "summary" of abilities anywhere in the official sources, it would have to be something the team needs to put manually in a database so it can populate the sheet, and I suspect that's too much effort for something that even among people that would use it, would have to meet different expectations/needs/demands. Plus, some classes at higher levels are already very dense in that area of the sheet (I'm looking at you, Monk).
Wouldn't you rather see a means to add quick notes in the sheet (anywhere), with a convenient font size selector? I know I would; it would be very easy for anyone to keep a little note in their own personal shorthand code for any ability or other area of the sheet. Imperative, of course, for those notes to appear in printed versions of the sheet.
Edit: Mmmmnnngghh. Again, by the time I finish my reply, a better answer has already been posted. >.<
Agreed - adding notes would satisfy the request with probably the least amount of work (with a title for each note). That said, I think there are a lot of cases where the ability to "pin" a rule block to my sheet would be handy. As I think about it I guess I'm asking for a shortcut to copy/paste, which is how I would grab the content to stick it into a note. nevermind? :)
Not sure if it's been mentioned before but one of the things I find myself needing these days, with my play by posts, is a way to share my characters publicly without needing to login. So I know I could export the sheet and then host it and get a link that way (which is what I was doing with my google drive and pdf sheets) but having a link that's generated on the character builder that would take us to the current "character sheet" as a read only pdf would be cool.

I'd love for spell scrolls to allow you to specify what spell is on them. Spell Scroll, 5th level isn't the most useful thing on one of my characters that has over a dozen of them.

This, for now I have taken to just listing them in possessions
Apologies if this is a repeat suggestion - I'll admit that I have not read all 28 pages of this post.
I would love the ability to:
Customize the name of any item in a character's inventory, not just weapons with attacks (example:"Arrows" to "Silver Arrows" - you can rename the bow right now, but not the arrows)
Side note: It would be great for the "name" field to show up in "customize" options in the inventory list - I've only seen it in the "Attacks" list.
The ability to add a purely custom thing into an inventory (example: A deed to a house, A letter from someone, A sandwich). Basically just a mundane item with a simple name and description, which doesn't go through the "homebrew" system (wouldn't be used for anything like weapons/armour). In other words, a mundane item called something like "Object" that you would then give a proper name to once it's in an inventory.
!I don't know if there is already a post about it, if that is the case... Sorry!
What I really like about the online sheet, is the ability to track uses of different things, like Spell Slots, Features, etc, and then reset them correctly with the Short and Long rests.
The only problem I have with this is that we do not use the "healing" rules of resting. They are.. a bit too much. So it would be really nice that in the Rest pop up (where the rest is explained and accepted) could be some kind of checkboxes where you can choose what to reset or modify with the rest. By default could be all Checked, as by the rules, but users could uncheck what they don't want to be modified by the rest. just an idea!!

Speaking of Point Buy, is there a way to increase the pool (either manually, or the DM increasing it for everyone in the campaign?)
If not, I'm quite sure it would be appreciated.

I know XML export has been requested (probably multiple times)... I'd like to add a request for JSON. :)

This has probably been mentioned already, but when exporting a Wizard character, only the prepared spells show up on the spell list.
I would expect all spells in the spell book to show up, with filled-out dots next to the prepared ones.
I would love for the panels of the charceter sheet to be moveable
