I'd really like some additional filters. Specifically, right now I'm trying to populate a tavern in the underdark, so I was hoping to filter by average INT and languages.
Also, filtering out creatures that don't eat/sleep would be cool.
First monster I go to look up is the Mind Flayer... No Flayers to found.
As per the sticky, the current content is limited to the WotC Systems Reference Document (SRD), which doesn't include Mind Flayers as they're a copyrighted entity.
Page 1 of the SRD:
The following items are designated Product Identity, as defined in Section 1(e) of the Open Game License Version 1.0a, and are subject to the conditions set forth in Section 7 of the OGL, and are not Open Content: Dungeons & Dragons, D&D, Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master, Monster Manual, d20 System, Wizards of the Coast, d20 (when used as a trademark), Forgotten Realms, Faerûn, proper names (including those used in the names of spells or items), places, Underdark, Red Wizard of Thay, the City of Union, Heroic Domains of Ysgard, EverChanging Chaos of Limbo, Windswept Depths of Pandemonium, Infinite Layers of the Abyss, Tarterian Depths of Carceri, Gray Waste of Hades, Bleak Eternity of Gehenna, Nine Hells of Baator, Infernal Battlefield of Acheron, Clockwork Nirvana of Mechanus, Peaceable Kingdoms of Arcadia, Seven Mounting Heavens of Celestia, Twin Paradises of Bytopia, Blessed Fields of Elysium, Wilderness of the Beastlands, Olympian Glades of Arborea, Concordant Domain of the Outlands, Sigil, Lady of Pain, Book of Exalted Deeds, Book of Vile Darkness, beholder, gauth, carrion crawler, tanar’ri, baatezu, displacer beast, githyanki, githzerai, mind flayer, illithid, umber hulk, yuan-ti.
I'm not sure if these are applicable question or not given the current phase of the beta we are in, but... Once the homebrew addition system is added how will it view in relation to existing monster content?
If I add a homebrew monster, or a modified version of an existing monster, will it be added into the monster search for me based on the tags I give it? Or will it be kept separate in a homebrew monster section with its own search list?
Will it be possible to option sharing it with the community? Or will it automatically be shared with the community?
Will it be possible to option sending it to another user so that they can import it into their own homebrew list?
If it homebrew and official content are kept separate will there be an easy way to link them in the campaign manager/encounter builder so I can build encounters with both homebrew and official content? For instance the ability to add both types of monsters to a single random encounter list and link to the pertinent stats.
Will there be a settings option in the campaign manager to toggle into and out of homebrew content on a campaign by campaign basis?
Note: though directed at monsters these questions could just as easily apply to all content.
I'm hoping that the final version will allow me to import non-D&D but "licensed" products I've purchased, e.g., Kobold Press Tome of Beasts.
I hope it will include options for DMGuild content as a whole. There are a huge amount of 3rd party resources out now, adding them to DnDBeyond would be fantastic, even if i have to do it by hand would be awesome.
I noticed some monsters do not appear in the monster listings, such as the pixie. Will we ever see a full list of monsters from the monster manual and other source books?
First off this is looking very useful for GMing. The monster cards and searching functions are very useful. The monster rule link at the top of the page is a good addition. I haven't had a chance to try it out in game yet but not having to flip between pages in the PHB & MM may finally get me to bring a computer to gaming sessions. Note I am using a laptop and have not tired in on a tablet or phone screen.
I would like to second having hyperlinks to the spell descriptions for the monster's spells.
Also an ability to create multiple encounters and provide the ability to save and name the encounters would be very useful. I'm guessing this will probably part of the phase 3 rollout so I'm ahead of myself.
I suggest to improve the search tool adding the creature type. I try to explain with an exemple:
I would like to see a list of beast in the range of 0 - 1/4 CR ordered by CR and I can't do that right now.
Hoping this will help improving this beautiful Beta.
I would like to thanks everyone to keep D&D alive.

Hi Moos,
good news - you can already do this!
Click on the BEAST icon across the top - this narrows the selection of creatures to just beasts.
Set the CR range to 0 and 1/4 in the filter boxes directly below the icons.
Click on the [FILTER MONSTERS] button to the right.
Now look at the column headings, just above the first monster. Just to the right of "CR" there are two small triangles - left-click on those and it will sort all of the beasts in your search by CR, so that those with zero CR are first.

Another nice filter would be a NOT this or that.

Thought so, but being a first time beta tester, I didn't know how detailed my comments needed to be.

I notice that the "Description" section is inconsistently implemented. I for one would appreciate descriptions of all of the critters.

I have to agree with the formatting request. I feel like "Dragon, Bronze, Ancient" is more useful than "Ancient Bronze Dragon," for instance. YMMV.
