The Artificer class was sposed to be released summer of 2017 it is now almost 2019 a year later will it ever be released I was kind of hoping on it for one of my campains
I'm not sure where you got the idea that it was going to be released in summer 2017. It was added to DM's Guild around May 2017, but not official release.
We're still tinkering with the artificer, amid our other work. We'll release a new version of the class when it's ready for another round of feedback, and we're ready to act on that feedback. #DnD
D&D Beyond only use Unearthed Arcana from Jan 2018 onwards and Official Content released by Wizards of the Coast. A few exceptions have been made for some Critical Role content due to D&D Beyond sponsoring the show.
Since Artificer is not an official class of D&D 5th Edition and its first Unearthed Arcana testing period ended before January 2018 it will not be added to the site until Wizards of the Coast release either a new playtest run or make it official. D&D Beyond has no control over this at all.
I'd love to see a proper artificer myself. Or the ability to create custom classes so we, the community, could create one of our own.
The artificer archtypes I have seen are not worth the virtual paper they viewed upon. I am tempted to created an archtype (or set of archtypes) that would completely change the base class of whoever took one, but I don't want to put the time into such a project only to have an official Artificer finally get added.

I so want to play an Artificer I do have my hopes for an unearthed arcana release to be followed by official shortly after.
