So I got a hint that a few of my family members have purchased some of the source material books as a Christmas gift for me.
The issue is they have done so on their own separate accounts under the understanding that they will be able to keep it secret from me and the content share with me when the big day comes along.
They are unaware that to share content you must pay a subscription.
How do I make sure that I can get access to these gifts through my account, without them having to pay subscriptions?
Also I plan on subscribing personally, if I add them to my campaign will that solve my problem?
I really don’t want anyone to have wasted money/ have to fork out more money. PLEASE HELP!!
if you purchase a Master Tier subscription, then you can enable content sharing for up to 3 campaigns.
When content sharing is enabled in a campaign, it shares ALL content that has been unlocked by ALL members of the campaign.
In your example, if you create a campaign as DM and enable content sharing, then invite three different players to your campaign, any purchases they have made on D&D Beyond will be shared with you.
Another question... if I am a player in a campaign that’s has content sharing enabled. Will those books that are shared with me still be accessible to me in my own campaign? And furthermore will they also be shared with my players?

(I haven't tested this myself, but) Unfortunately, books that are shared to you from one campaign will not be shared by you to another campaign.
No, it won't. Content sharing will only be available for character creation in the campaigns that contain the players with said content. Unfortunately you will not be able to use content shared by players in campaign A to build characters in campaign B.
Actually, i know this doesn't help at all, but.... You can create a character in campaign A that has all the books and then move them campaign B to play, however, you cannot level up using any of that book material. you would have to take them back to Campaign A, level up and then take them back to campaign B to play. a hassle for sure.
Again, Gift Cards/Vouchers, Curse, get on it!

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.
Sorry to beat a dead horse but am confused due to the wording used in the subsciption package is only the DM gets their content shared if content sharing is on in the campaign?
I just wanted to check based of some comments here. If I am a player in a campaign and the DM turns content sharing on all the books I own (my DM own very little of the books here) will be shared with the DM and fellow players? Will this count as one of the 3 campaigns am limited to sharing with?
If your DM has a Master Tier subscription and Turns on content sharing, every source anyone in the campaign has purchased here is shared. As far as I know, it only counts toward the three campaign limit for the person with who has the Master Tier sub AND turned on sharing in that campaign.
It doesn't have to be the DM that has the master tier subscription, it works the same if a player turns on content sharing.
In my play group, I have the legendary bundle and my friend has the subscription. In some games, I DM, in some games, he DMs. He and our other players have access to all the options in both cases.
