It’s been five years since this thread was first created and magic items still don’t grant action or bonus action active abilities at this point I doubt they even care about the homebrew side of things
Came here looking to find out how to make a homebrew magic item show up as having an action for my newbie players and hoo boy was this thread depressing
Sadly yes, i was very sad myself when I found this thread not so long ago. I really wish the team would at least comment or something to make us feel heard. But silence speaks volumes sometimes.
I’ve now messaged multiple d and d beyond staff members and have gotten no response at all, and just submitted a ticket to support. If there is no response, i’ll be jumping ship from the platform and find an alternative even if its pen and paper.
i dont need to use/pay a site that isnt going to listen to any users and creates digital dice skins and a virtual tabletop no one asked for when roll20 and tabletop sim exist and are both already more viable and less expensive options.
@LaTiaJacquise,
Can you provide any updates?
who's here in October of 2024 still wishing they would prioritize homebrew rework
To be honest, i'd rather they spent their resources fixing all the issues so we don't have to homebrew every little thing just to get them to work.
Playing D&D since 1982
Have played every version of the game since Basic (Red Box Set), except that abomination sometimes called 4e.
a'yup

Six years and still no clue about actions on magic items

The funniest thing is, dndbeyond still emails me to tell me people have posted in this thread. Super bad look for them 🤣
Ok, so it is 6 years later. Where is this supposedly planned feature?
It's worth noting that my reply on page 1 was from 2019 and I was laid off from Wizards of the Coast Jan 2023, so no longer work on D&D Beyond.

If you need help with homebrew, please post on the homebrew forums, where multiple staff and moderators can read your post and help you!
"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
A damn shame, i felt like you atleast did your best to communicate with the community.
Do you know who to tag or how to get response/update?
...Well I was looking into how to add a Bonus action to a Homebrew Feat and I guess Got my answer here...
This shit sucks.

@ LaTiaJacquise - thoughts on this?
Just checked again in 2025....majorly disappointing this hasn't been implemented.
