It should honestly be as simple as adding a weapon type to the Weapons attribute called "Custom" and allowing us to set the values and keywords ourselves.
Yup, this is planned. Adding the actions system to magical items will really open up options.
Can the DnD Beyond staff give an update? I've seen countless updated weapon options from things like Critical Role. Shouldn't be too much of a hassle to just add the Custom type.
Given the new OGL plans and the leaked info from behind the scene's I fully doubt the homebrew community will continue to be accepted by any arms whatsoever. Seeing their plans to turn DnD into a VTT multiplayer game instead of a round the table pen and paper adventure run by the most creative/flexible game engine we have, another humans mind.
I've started to look for greener pastures at this point as I have effectively no faith in the leadership of WotC.

I think we read very different OGL drafts... If anything, they would want more homebrew, especially on this site. They want a cut of monetization (which is irrelevant here) and they want to be able to just publish the things they see and like. Having the homebrew already in their system and format just makes their jobs even easier.
I also don't think you know what a "VTT multiplayer game" is, or you wouldn't have ended that sentence the way you did.
Is there reason to be upset? Sure, but you seem to have grabbed your torch and pitchfork without understanding why you're grabbing your torch and pitchfork.
Simply another dungeon master finding this thread and being met with disappointment. I didn't know I was waiting this long for such a feature, but I suppose I'll have to change how my item works.
For these are the Tenants of the Eternal Waitening, Our Forlorn Patience, a Blessing and a Curse, We, the Brothers and Sisters of the Wait, Outside the Bounds of Time, our Wills Unbroken, We stand Resolute, Our Voices Carry as One,
This is a perfect example of why I've never paid for D&D Beyond and don't imagine I ever will. So many cases of half-implemented and abandoned functionality. It's not even just homebrew: there are things from TCOE that still don't function. At this point, with a completely unappealing revision planned in less than a year, I don't imagine they'll ever address any of these issues.

TCoE?!? There’s still stuff from the core three that isn’t fully or properly implemented yet.
Additionally could really use this. As a workaround that might be simpler, could the ability of a magic item to grant a feat include homebrew feats which do have the ability to add actions?

They haven't figured out how to nickel-and-dime monetize it, so we're not getting this feature.

There seems to be a lot of that going around lately.

bump
Sad to see this many responses and no official update on this much needed option.
When would this feature be coming?
Bumping this up, I assumed as it was 'coming soon' at the beginning of the thread it might have been done by now lol
So am I
Still waiting
We are. Doing. The waiting

it's been 4 years now. Has this still not been implemented?
Please DDB, this is so very much needed.
