I make a homebrew spell then add the spell to the item. The biggest flaw with this is that you are required to say what kind of spellcaster can do the spell. Make sure you tell your party or pick a class that no one is playing so it doesn't accidentally get picked up lol.
Whelp, considering it has been about seven a half years since the original query and about 4 and a half since Hasbro officially bought D&D Beyond and there have no updates to Homebrew and I am currently in a situation where I spent hours building a new subclass only for it to not show up in the character builder, so I then spend another few hours trying to figure out why (I didn't, I gave up)....I think it's finally time to recognize that, no matter what they might say, it is clear Hasbro doesn't seem interested in servicing the functions that its core users rely on, only on creating flashy new content to keep new people providing them traffic to justify turning the whole service into p2w. And, for that reason, I'm out. It's been a wonderful (ish) six and half years on D&D Beyond. Maybe I'll come back. Who knows. Farewell, all. Good luck.

There is quite literally a site remake in the roadmap.
Also, be careful of sources that claim the pay to win thing. ESPECIALLY Dungeons & Discourse, since she pulls the same soothsaying tricks in the Warhammer40k space, & it's exactly the same schtick of clipping an innocuous piece of info, taking it out of context, & blowing it out of proportion

How exactly would dnd become pay to win? Like what is wining even in dnd? Cause to me winning at dnd is having a good night with friends playing this game.

Many people, often the ones who bounce from table to table, consider "winning" to be showing up everyone else at the table. Might have something to do with why they bounce from table to table.
