I would like the ability to place items in containers such as a backpack. One to track where my items are. Also it would be nice to drop the weight of a backpack during combat when I put it down...and to track what I could loose if let's say the enemy takes a container that I may have.
I hope this includes the ability to share and exchange items between players. I would love to be able to give potions from my inventory to another player and have it automatically deduct from me and added to the other players inventory.
I'm guessing this is still in the works. I see "inventory management enhancements" listed as something to be tackled "in the long term" on the road map. I assume this means that we should expect that it will be some time yet before we have the ability to indicate what containers items are in. Or am I missing something? I haven't seen any posts asking for this for about half a year, so either folks gave up, or I'm missing something.

Yeah, anything in long term will be a while. I’d be surprised to see anything in that list in 2020, to be honest, given my experience of development pace and the number of things on the short term list.
Sorry, I'm new to D&D beyond, however, I think this fits into the idea of Inventory Management. So, say I added a bag of holding or similar item, is there a way to 'add' items into it to reduce weight?
Example: Say I have an Efficient Quiver and 60 arrows in my inventory. The 60 arrows would weigh 3 pounds, however, according to the description of the Efficient Quiver, I can place the arrows into the quiver, and at max the quiver would weigh 2 pounds. Is there an option in Equipment or my character sheet that allows me to reduce my weight by adding the arrows to the quiver?

You cannot “add them to the quiver,” but you can eliminate the weight. Click the item on the character sheet, click “customize” and then set the weight override to “0.” You can then put “Efficient Quiver” in the notes field. If you change the name to “Efficient Quiver- Arrows” they will even group together in the inventory with everything else you name “Efficient Quiver- X.” Kindof like THIS, I just do it with emojis instead of words.

Great idea I wouldn't have thought of. Where can I find a complete listing of compatible emoji?

I have no idea, I do most of my DDBing on my iPhone or iPad, I just look through it until I find something. Or I type horse and it gives me 🐎 or 🐴 as options. Backpack 🎒 bag 💼 etc.

This, plus the grouping idea are pure gold and I greatly appreciate this post. Thank you so much!
I'm currently doing a 1 on 1 campaign and inventory management is kinda fun when it's just you and your retainers (knight background). I've even added a carrying capacity in notes for my retainers and then added notes on the items on who has what. With everything set to 0 now that my Lady isn't carrying I can get an accurate idea of what she really has!
The ideas in here are pretty good but my god the amount of time you must spend figuring that all out.... when do you play?
I have a lot of IT people in my group and messing around with endless tweaks to inventory just to make sure your bag of holding is behaving as intended is not our idea of fun. Also I have a problem renaming standard items as something else unless they are actually something else. (Just a personal quirk I guess)
What can I do to encourage this improvement for the character sheet? We are literally using spreadsheets and custom inventory management software to handle our characters gear which means the DM has little to no insight into our characters inventory. (Another thing that bothers me even if I'm not currently the DM )

It's on the roadmap! :)

This is on the roadmap? Where is the roadmap?

Yes! We absolutely need this feature.
Yeah. I hope they get to it soon...

I wish it had higher priority, especially for things like the Bag of Holding and it's weight changing properties.

Ahh! I actually found a pretty good listing. Looks fairly complete: https://unicode.org/emoji/charts/full-emoji-list.html#1f392 Beyond is using the "Browser" version of these.
Thanks for the idea! Its working great!
