This is a more general criticism of rules regarding certain conditions or rules regarding equipment or other gear, in D&D, that actually make less sense when you do a little digging.
For starters, Padded Armor and its Stealth disadvantage in D&D. Padded Armor is the name given to a type of armor, but its historical name is the Gambeson. And historically, the Gambeson did not give stealth disadvantage, and was, in fact, the goto armor for covert operations because it provided no penalties to stealth and general sneaking around. So why does "Padded Armor" give a Stealth disadvantage when it's real-world counterpart did not?
No arguments on that here, and homebrew rules and the like can get around most of the issues I mentioned here. I just couldn't find a good place for feedback intended for Wizards of the coast and would love to be pointed in the right direction.
WOTC has customer service contacts (one of the mods here posts them occasionally), but they do not have forums. They used to, but took them down several years ago.
Meanwhile, if that's really an issue for your group, someone can easily circumvent the issue by choosing a leather armor and customizing it/renaming it in the character's equipment section as "gambeson". You can even override the armor's weight.
Also, I think the idea is that padded leather armor doesn't move as freely as leather armor (due to said padding) and thus hampers your ability to move freely, thus making you less dexterous. Sure, the effect probably isn't as much as heavy armor types, but 5e simplifies things into Advantage and Disadvantage, rather than numerical modifiers.
"Gamebeson" an under coat for metal armor. Chain mail can be prickley to get off without a gamebeson under it. I'm looking for people to discuss the types of Leather armor?

This is feedback more for Wizards of the Coast rather than D&D Beyond. DDB doesn't make the game rules, they just make the awesome tools.
