I have a spell called radiant strike that I have been trying to publicly post that keeps getting rejected because the reviewers keep saying it is a copy of green flame blade. I am not sure how that is when the damage for green flame blade is fire, hits two targets, while the spell I created does radiant damage, only hits one target and scales like sacred flame. Even the text is different. Can an admin explain this?
It would help if there was better feedback when a spell get rejected to give direction on how one can fix it.

I second that motion and move to apply it to all homebrew content. It might also be nice to be able to point out things like this directly to the Moderator responsible.

With the public homebrew, the intent is for new spells/items/monsters/etc rather than reskinned version of existing content. Something along the lines of a Cold based fireball, a flame tongue that deals acid damage, or a smaller/larger version of a monster would be rejected. Looking at the current version of the spell it does seem to be enough variation since the first submission to be published, so I'll push that through now.
The system also currently doesn't update the reject message is there is multiple submission/rejections - this is something that is on the staff's to do list, they've been busy with redoing the equipment manager and other pieces based on feedback from the users. This is why you still see the same reject message, it isn't showing you the updated one. We hope to also have additional improvements like private comments when submitting as well as the voting and commenting once published (and also the ability to remove images - we know feel all your pain on that point!).
As you can probably tell, there is a lot that falls into a grey area when it comes to Homebrew, and we have all the mods dealing with the never ending queue. Unfortunately we just don't have the time to discuss one-on-one with everyone. If you do ever have a question regarding homebrew you can always send a PM to any of the mods 0 we are able to see which mod handled the submission and we talk daily behind the scenes to ensure we align as much as possible.

So, would you like to direct me to the place where you have that written down so we can know about it?
It's a good thing this is a Beta - Mods are learning what to accept and what to reject. When one sees something they think is fine, another might see it as something that does not contribute to content. As we have our meetings on what is ok and what is not, the rules change. The rules will be modified before launch, that's for sure.
Thank you for the response. I was super confused. Beta is certainly for learning and I learned something new. The ideas you presented are pretty cool.
On the topic of monsters, is converting them to 5th from past editions acceptable for monsters that have not made an appearance? I believe that many monsters in general exist in public domain.
PS. Can you change the thread title to the Homebrew Clarity Thread?

*Edit to fix a spelling error.

We prefer homebrew to be original works from their creators, but I know that some previous edition content has been approved already.
