The only free content provided by Wizards of the Coast are the SRD and Basic Rules. Character options not present in those sources require you to purchase the source they are found in. In this case, the subclasses are found in the Player's Handbook, which is not a free source.
Please note that, you don't need to purchase the whole sourcebook on D&D Beyond if you just want access to these subclasses - you can purchase just those subclasses. If you later decide to purchase the whole sourcebook, the amount you pay will be reduced by the amount already spent on content from it, so you don't lose out by purchasing a little bit at a time.

This is not good. Way of Shadow and Way of the Four Elements are in the physical PHB, so why would they not be here? Anything in the PHB is canon.
