I was thinking about with the current 3rd-anniversary promotion, I would finally just complete my digital collection and get the legendary bundle. I was disappointed to discover that the digital books discount code doesn't work for the legendary bundle. Why?
I hope they’re looking at the number of abandoned carts for this, and consider allowing it. I would have completed the source bundle today but I’m not going to do so without a promo.
I literally check DNDB every day for a discount, so I had the Legendary Bundle in my cart within two seconds of seeing the discount banner. A bummer to see that it doesn't apply.

So... buy all but the cheapest item in the legendary bundle at the 20% discount, and then buy the legendary bundle (which now consists of the one cheapest item) in order to get the 15% discount on future purchases? The bundle prices appear to be discounted if you already own some of the items in the bundle which is why this should work.
For example, I bought a couple of $30 source books recently and the legendary and sourcebook bundles are $60 cheaper because I already own some of the content. (You can compare the bundle prices for when you're logged in and logged out.)
Of course, if dndbeyond took the time to implement the code/policy to discount bundles for content you all ready purchased, and given how easily it is to "game" the 20% discount with the bundles, I'm going to assume that dndbeyond would be willing to work with people on maximizing the 20% discount with the future discount provided by the bundles, i.e. have faith in the company.
IIRC, the last legendary bundle discount was 25%, with the perpetual 15% on anything that comes out in the future. I'm just waiting for that to come back around.
I tried this trick of buying all but one, which is $1.99. Now the discounted bundle is still $26.99. For a $1.99 item. I give up.
Edit: Came back to pick up some campaigns that I own in FG and wanted here too. Turns out Tales from the Yawning Portal is a bundle, but the discount code worked for it. So the fact that it's a bundle isn't the reason the code doesn't work.
The way the bundle works is that it deducts everything you've spent on the books you already own, rather than deducting their baseprice. So basically you get your savings from previous sales -15% tacked on to the price.
Also, add me to the list of people who planned on buying the bundle and didn't because it is more expensive than buying the individual books at the moment.
Yep, I was going to buy the bundle too but I guess I'll wait until it's discounted again. Looked it up online and I guess they discounted it back in March?

Tales from the Yawning Portal is not a bundle in the usual sense: in print it is one book. It is treated somewhat differently here, so that people could pick and choose which adventure(s) they wanted from it, and not have to buy the whole book in order to get the one(s) they wanted. I'm not surprised that the book code works for it, since it represents what is in print one book.

I’m disappointed too, I’d buy the legendary bundle right now for 20% off.
I second this. Been waiting myself to do the same.
Yeah, I had the same idea but it didn't work :(
Not working for me at all when i tried to add the sourcebook bundle.
Generally they don't let you stack discounts like this.
It's 20% off individual sourcebooks, not bundles.
Lightning Strike - A rebranded Fire Bolt for Wizards & Sorcerers.
Spirit Bomb - A holy fireball for Clerics, Paladins, & Divine Soul Sorcerers!
Sword Dancer - A Cleric subclass specifically for the Drow goddess Eilistraee.
Quicksilver & The Scarlet Witch - A pair of magical firearms for your Gunslinger or Artificer.

The confusion ( including mine ) probably has to do with the banner saying 'all digital books'. Like others I am abandoning my Legendary Bundle Cart.

Well, it was listed as an “individual book code” and not a “bundle code.”

Add me to the chorus of folks who were going to drop hundreds of dollars for the legendary bundle but abandoned when I learned the code didn't work.

Yep was gonna, now I'm not
It's father's day in Aus soon so would even been able to justify the spend quite nicely :)
