The idea of magic in your blood from elementals, dragons, or demons is just awesome. However, as I find playing a sorcerer about as fun as having my wisdom teeth removed it goes to:
Mechanically: Warlock
What's essentially two subclasses due to the pacts, and also invocations to add even more customisation. I think warlock is by far the best designed class in 5e, despite maybe being a bit too front loaded. You can personalise it so much, and it has similar themes to sorcerer.
My ideal class: Duskblade/Magus/Swordmage
A partial caster elemental/arcane gish, who can cast a ton of varied magic through their melee attacks, is my personal favourite class. Prior editions of DnD did it, and Pathfinder does it. However it's failed to make the jump to 5e, so it's a class I can't use.
The mystic was a playtest-only class from 2017-2018, IIRC. It was HEAVILY unbalanced and consequently extremely unpopular and as a result never made it to print.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
So far as the ones I've played, of which there are three, Ranger is my favorite. Fighter and Barbarian are both second in this regard, though I'll admit the only Fighter subclass I've played is Champion, my first character as you can probably guess. Battle Master sounds fun, and Monk does too, though I think my next character is definitely gonna be a full caster of some sort.

THE ULTIMATE POLL!!!! What is your favorite class from D&D 5e?
(I just cannot choose, but I would like to see what you think).
Erean Cabenrith a Variant Human Cleric (Light Domain)
Eliem Lightblossom a High Elf Blood Hunter

No overall favorite. Variety is the spice of life.
My most commonly played class is Sorcerer.
The class I would personally want to be is Druid.
In the right setting, the Artificer would be in very high demand.
I've never been fond of martial classes, but they have an important role, nonetheless.
Thematically: Sorcerer

Ranger. They’re my favourite, both thematically and mechanically (if you use the UA version, the PH one is a bit weak). Fighter is good too.
