then it would be nice if the website at least had it's own user bookmarks like the app. I could at least then mirror whats on my app by hand.
Thanks
you can just use browser bookmarks, it's a feature that all modern browsers have, just create a folder for DnD or DnDBeyond and add all the bookmarks in there
No it's bad design pure and simple. Just because they're cheaping out on dev work doesn't justify it. And mind you, this is a service we're paying for. Hack solutions should not be considered okay.

They’re already managing a VTT, translating physical books to an online toolset, writing articles and creating online content on their YouTube, modeling and programming dozens of sets of dice, expanding a fairly well made homebrew system, and helping DMs manage encounters.
Oh, and they’ve also created the most robust character creation system for 5e ever made, which supports content from every official WotC publication and many unofficial ones.
Did I mention the app? The one that already has bookmarks, which they didn’t even need to add?
They’re doing all this with an entirely new edition (or, at least, substantial rework) on the horizon, which will likely require some major reworks.
The point is, DDB has a lot going on. They’re not “cheaping out” on anything. Why would they waste time with an issue that already has a fix?
And mind you, this is a service we're paying for.
Just because you’re paying for something doesn’t mean you’re entitled to decide how the devs should invest their resources, which are spread thin as it is.
Hack solutions should not be considered okay.
How is it a hack solution? You’re not downloading anything, you’re not using some 3rd-party app, you’re just using your browser. That’s called a feature. Browsers wouldn’t have bookmarks if everyone just expected websites to do it for them.
Incidentally, this thread is over two years old. It got three replies and then died. You want to make your complaint, I recommend making a new thread in the D&D Beyond Feedback section of the forums. I doubt the devs are looking for suggestions here.
None of that make this nor any missing feature okay.
Bookmarks on the app are useless if I cannot access them on the desktop. That is the entire point of a solution like DND Beyond is to access all of your stuff regardless of platform. If the platforms are not level, then it is a failure of design. I don't know why you all insist on defending a multi-million dollar company delivering missing features. Oh. And. A multi-million dollar company that laid off employees weeks before Christmas. I have no pity for them. As users, we shouldn't be okay with settling for bad solutions.

Pretty sure it does. They have limited resources. And, again, it’s not missing. It’s in the app. They didn’t add support here because it isn’t needed.

Sure, it’s less than ideal. But no resource can be perfect. Again, the devs’ focus is spread thin enough. It’s silly to demand they drop everything to fix something that has already been fixed.

If someone is motivated enough to delve into dead threads and revive them just to complain, I’m pretty sure they’re motivated enough to bookmark things twice. People generally use the app or the website, not both.

Hasbro’s business decisions make them bad people, and therefore D&D Beyond owes us bookmarks?
Layoffs are a controversial topic (I’m hardly a fan of WotC’s 2023 blunders) and are most definitely worthy of discussion. But this thread really isn’t the best place to have that discussion, on account of its being two years old and its having nothingto do with layoffs.
Just because a platform has money doesn’t mean it should waste said money on something that no one really asked for. Y’know, because browsers already provide a viable alternative.
Again, a new Feedback thread would be a great place to let people know about this . . .
If it's not synced, then it is a failure of design. Period. Whatever else they're working on does not change that. There being a shoddy way around it doesn't make bad design better. And my point in bringing up WotC's scummy business practices is to emphasis the fact that they do not need white knights such as yourself defending their shoddy development.
Further. I don't take orders from you, and I will make noise wherever I please.

The point I’ve been trying to make is that there are only so many things the devs can do at once. This is low priority because there’s already a fix/alternative. It’s that simple.
In a perfect world, every requested feature on DDB would already be implemented. But that can’t realistically happen, so the best we can do is get it on their radar through a Feedback thread (!).
Further. I don't take orders from you, and I will make noise wherever I please.
The only reason I keep repeating that is because no one is going to check some random General Discussion thread that’s gotten almost no traction. So unless you’re looking to troll or just vent (entirely understandable, by the way), it’s kinda pointless to continue talking about it.
There is a valid discussion to be had about cross-platform features. There is stuff that you can't do with the app that you can only do in the website that really should be doable on the app. There is quite a bit of stuff that really should have been sent implemented years ago. Bookmarks are a thing that should be preservable across platforms - but at the moment, they're pretty low on my list of priorities. I've barely even noticed that you can't and I think most users are in the same camp. There is a whole list of more important things than cross platform bookmarks that I'd rather they'd focus on first.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.

Adding onto this is the fact the app is still in BETA and this conversation really should be in the Mobile Beta Testing Bugs & Support subforum.
Can I access bookmarks on the Dndbeyond.com web site that i made on my Dnd Beyond ipad app?
if not i'd love to see this feature.
No, Since the app is seperate from the browser function that bookmarks use.
And this is pretty much an impossible feature to implement on the app.
That said, the bookmarks can still bring you to the dndbeyond site, just no the app.
My homebrew content: Monsters, subclasses, Magic items, Feats, spells, races, backgrounds

But we shouldn't have to do that. It is a pretty basic feature that isn't built into the site. That's a failure of design.
No, it's a case of them not wasting dev time on a feature that browsers already provide.
