For the sniper just give them a ranger with a bow and suggest Sharpshooter. Don't do too much OP planning for their character. A new player won't understand most of it.
One other thing to consider is that a "sniper" is typically a solo job. They want to sneak in, pick off targets, and get out with preferably no engagement at all. Even if they're playing "support" and attacking while the rest of the party is in melee, they will be too far for your monsters to threaten and if you have something get the jump on your sniper, the rest of the party will be too far away to help.
I'd recommend that you start out with a party that is all in the same 25x25 or so area. Having someone essentially off the map is going to be tough to deal with.
