I'm 99% sure that someone has asked something similar to this in the past, but I'm going to ask: What does the multi-quote button do, and how do I use it? (and, bonus question: I can't ever seem to cut quote chains and make them look normal, how can I do this correctly?)

First I delete everything in quote I'm cutting (not the quote box itself yet), then I go to the deepest quote I'm keeping, make an extra paragraph at the beginning, then from that firs paragraph backspace until the cut quote is gone.
This prevents the weird detached headers and merging the quote body with the header.
When cutting quote chains I frequently do it in the html since it’s easier to cut the formatting too. I can cut it just as cleanly with fewer steps than DxJxC uses, but it requires a little knowledge of html to know what one is looking at. If I’m in a hurry I just hide the bits I don’t need in a spoiler instead, like this:
Multi-quote makes it harder easier to quote multiple posts at once. I mostly just ignore the feature since some of the devices I use for DDB let me do this without using the feature.

"Quote" link just inserts the contents of that post in the main reply box at bottom so you can easily reply to it. Multi-quote allows you to do this for multiple posts at once with a space between them for your replies.
As for cutting the quotes - takes a bit of finesse. I do it the same way as Sposta as I find it easier and dont have to deal with the forum autoformatting the quoted bit and headers which I then have to fix. With the "HTML" route I can just highlight the right bit, delete and done.

In order to multi-quote, it's a lot like regular quoting. The only difference is you have to click the 'multi-quote' button on each post you want to quote, and in the bottom right hand corner a box will appear. There's a number telling you how many posts you're quoting (this post will have 2 quotes), and a 'Reply' button beneath it. When you click 'Reply,' the quotes will be added to the 'Reply to this Topic' box at the bottom, beneath whatever you already have written there.
So I wrote all this beforehand, then will quote Yondor_The_Fantastic and BoringBard after.

There should be a space in-between each quote, no matter how many posts you quote in one go.
Multi-quote makes it harder easier to quote multiple posts at once. I mostly just ignore the feature since some of the devices I use for DDB let me do this without using the feature.
And finally, there should be the normal space after all the quotes to write whatever you want below.
Hope this helps! :)

Hiya folks.

Cleanly cutting quote chains takes some finesse.

Step 2:
Step 3/final:
When cutting quote chains I frequently do it in the html since it’s easier to cut the formatting too. I can cut it just as cleanly with fewer steps than DxJxC uses, but it requires a little knowledge of html to know what one is looking at. Alternatively, you can just click the quote buttons one at a time. There will still be a gap for replying individually.
