Except it isn't rumors, there are plenty of posts from reliable sources showing this is legit, not only from current content creators but leaks from WotC themselves.
Looks like you need to look beyond your personal bias and look around.
i was going to try my hand at trying to play D&D for the first time this year and i was planning on subscribing and looking through the resources for things that might help/make things more fun but now that i know this is going on, im no longer going to bother with 5E or 6E.
Ultimately, how much they truly own will need to be tested in court.
Honestly isn't this the most wild part of all? We have had lots of lawyers and legal experts weigh in, licensing and copyright practices have been established as they are for decades, and yet ultimately what it comes down to is what mood some judge happens to be in when a case reaches their desk.

Welcome to... I was going to say "America", but this happens in other jurisdictions too.
With luck, it will be based on impartial jurisprudence rather than a judge's mood.
started playing AD&D on or after 1979, I have the legendary bundle, so not yet but am perfectly capable of doing so and if forced to, am boycotting ALL Hasbro products for the rest of my life. With health issues who knows.
Am looking for a different system to rebuild my worlds.

I love DnD. I really do. I also love DnDBeyond, ever since I discovered it a few years ago. I started with a Hero Tier subscription, later switched to Master Tier, and bought pretty much every book here. I was a loyal, satisfied and happy customer. Until last weekend.
Now, I'm disappointed - utterly disappointed - by the OGL change, and by what it stands for. It looks like my love was a very one-sided love.
So, I just cancelled my Master Tier subscription. Better a horrible end than endless horror.
Not cancelling. Only reason I would is if the program went down the drain or their pricing was to much. Right now it's not bad.
I've heard other creators are switching and going to make content that isn't 5e but still fantasy and should be able to be used in any fantasy game genre. (MCDM) Why can't others do the some thing? Seems their time could be better spent figuring a way to create without using 5e ruleset and less time focusing on cancel culture.
I love D&D. It makes me sick to death that Wizards of the Coast> Hasbro> venture capital corporations may, yet, again, kill D&D. I say "yet again" because this happened previously with Paizo and Pathfinder. The end of this will simply result in droves of third-party supporters, and some of them who really got D&D up to this level of popularity, to go or create their own systems or use other platforms already in existence. And because of today's connectivity and community, it would strip away an immense number of supporters.
Hopefully, they will create a better path to protect their IP and still reward third-party creators.

Emphasis mine. You do understand that this puts into doubt the future of the majority of D&D-related publishing right? This leak, if true, will utterly destroy the OSR, and any publisher who signs the new license will be giving away the rights to their own intellectual property? This isn't just a case of "corporations gonna corporation" this is much, MUCH bigger and wide-reaching than that. Some publishers, like Kobold Press are choosing to develop an open fantasy RPG system rather than stand under the sword, I wouldn't call that cancel culture. I also wouldn't call voting with your wallet cancel culture either. In Capitalism it is often the only bit of power people have.

I agree, but also, I will NOT be purchasing anything new through DnD Beyond.

Master Tier subscription has now been canceled. RIP D&D
Typical move from a greedy dogshit company

DnD Beyond cancelled their Twitch stream today. I wonder why?!
Cancelling your sub is not enough! Delete your account so that they can see you are never coming back!!!

I have already cancelled.
I have started looking for a new game to migrate to.

If they don't stick with the OGL 1.0a I and my entire table will be leaving DnDBeyond, and we are discussing leaving D&D altogether. #OpenD&D or bust
My group is already discussing what new system we will start playing if WOTC doesn't confirm that the OGL 1.0a will stay in place.

It makes me really sad, I just bought a bunch of books on here and was going to run a campaign with some friends using D&D Beyond, but not anymore...
