Important question, who is the author of this poll? Is this WoTC trying to gauge the reaction to their 'leak'? Is the author a community member affiliated with WoTC? D&D Beyond, ie. WoTC? Just wanting to make sure.
My first ever character is a tabaxi rogue named Tegro, my latest character that I've played, Earazyi Excelwing the Fairy Fighter, is either the last character I'll have or the last D&D character I'll have. Tegro might be a rogue, but Hasbro/WoTC are trying to get more money than him, and he hisses at that. Earazyi may be small, but his brain is big enough to understand this will collapse D&D faster than people disliked 4e.

Don't let the oppressive dragon grow its hoard even further.
Same; I just got really into D&D about 2 years ago now, I have three regular groups, I've bought pretty much all of the physical books because I love having hardcopies in my hands - I was gearing up to buy a full on Foundry VTT and D&D Beyond subscription this summer because I'm at my character limit and really struggling on who to delete now, and the price seemed reasonable, and the service that D&D beyond provides is excellent in my opinion with the character sheets and rules all there and interconnected - but with this hot mess and seeing that WOTC is entirely going to just try and slip it in once the community forgets about it and quiets down is sickening.
Like, they're literally going out of their way to steal the creative license rights of creators that have BUILT this game into the popular powerhouse it is by being amazing artists, creators and gamers that pump the lifeblood and excitement and enthusiasm into D&D - and WOTC wants to turn around and drink their blood for their efforts??? No way am I going to financially support that kind of evil bullshit.
There's no reason they shouldn't be perfectly happy with their current record breaking profits and franchise opportunities, anyway; D&D as an IP is hotter than it's ever been. Their greed is entirely unwarranted, and unacceptable.
We're going to play a Cyberpunk game next and check out VtM again, I haven't played it since highschool but I hear their remake was good, and they went out of their way (cost them lots of money!) to remove some stupid secret nazi shit that one of their employees managed to slip into their books through visual imagry and stuff like that - they took a hit purely because it was the morally right thing to do. That's a company I don't mind buying from.
Not cancelling. Only reason I would is if the program went down the drain or their pricing was to much. Right now it's not bad.
I've heard other creators are switching and going to make content that isn't 5e but still fantasy and should be able to be used in any fantasy game genre. (MCDM) Why can't others do the some thing? Seems their time could be better spent figuring a way to create without using 5e ruleset and less time focusing on cancel culture.
I prefer to look at this as consequence culture. More people and corporations should follow the "Don't be a dick" philosophy.
The worst part about this is, the damage is done and cannot be undone. They have literally really pissed off some of their core fans who also happen to be drivers of the community.
Even if they decide to not do it, there are so many people who are leaving D&D and the fact that they proved they lack business ethics and their partners cannot trust them. Even more competing products are coming to the shelves with open licenses which will spark content creators (some of the best in the business) to develop for their content because who the hell would do business with an underhanded crook who tried to destroy their business and steal their hard work?
If I were a Hasbro shareholder. I cannot tell you how many heads would roll starting with Chris Cocks and Cynthia Williams and then systematically fire everyone who supported this debacle of an idea.
It wasn't just ignorant. It was an utterly stupid thing to do especially after 4E / GSL debacle. You do not attack your customer base. That is an epic sin. It's your customers that put food on your table. You cannot just shit on them and expect them to come back.

I mean if you actually read anything or look into anything surrounding the alleged changes to 1.1, it's not cancel culture. The proposed changes are beyond exploitative, it is literally a very legal and wordy **** you to third-party content. For some third-party creators they can't just change their product, that takes time and money. Also yes we should all totally just sit around and do nothing when a massive cooperation tries to blatantly try shady business practices because execs think their customers aren't spending enough money.
Because it turns out that 3rd party creators are more regularly pumping out quality content and rather then trying to compete or offer any sort of deal to some of them, they just try to use legal shenagins to take what they want. I mean if it was me and I'm not a businessman by any means. But if it was me, I'd approach the more successful 3rd parties and offer them a deal, "hey wanna license your stuff as official content?". approach the more successful kick starter's and what not, people that already brought the product get a slightly cheaper original version and then WotC publishes it's on mass-market version for an extra I don't know $15-20?
Instead WotC just wants to be able to take the stuff other people have made and use it for free without credit...... Amongst many other things. I mean we all know business's pull shady stuff to make a buck, it's inevitable but there needs to be a line and 1.1 doesn't just cross it. It's dancing across it doing the cancan and giving it the middle finger as it salts and burns the ground as it goes.
And we're still waiting on an official statement as to what's happening, so I say alleged changes to 1.1 as despite the rumor's being apparently from credible sources and the ongoing silence from official sources are a pretty strong indicator to the truth of the things. Know one who actually knows what the future of dnd is, is actually saying anything.... which is a big problem in of itself, there's people's who's lively hoods depends on this, who have business's and careers at stake and to continue to function they need to know the legal obligations they have to operate under. The rumor's themselves do damage and the fact that the most official statement can be boiled down to "please stand by" is kind of a massive PR disaster. It kinda implies that shit is hitting the fan behind the scenes and they're trying to figure out the best way to spin this.
What ever happens now, this whole things is a PR nightmare for WotC and Hasbro. They should have been on damage control the day the rumor's starting gaining serious attention.
ha ha sorry, that kinda turned into a bit of a rant there. Um yes, if 1.1 is published as written I will not be renewing DnD beyond subscription.
I just cancelled my sub. I started playing in 1995 and would have thought I would never cancel. But I cannot support a company that is plotting to throw its own community under the bus.
Making money off of other peoples' hard work without credit or permission - I think we have a word for that. Don't threaten your competitors with a good time, Wizards. Take your spanks and go back to the drawing board.
It looks like Paizo's getting so much interest in their licence that the site is crashing! I haven't been able to get it to load yet.

Makes me wish I had need of a sub before now just so I could cancel it. Rest assured I will not be adding one in the future.

Loved this game since the early 80's, now, I just hope WotC burns to the ground metaphorically speaking. Way to, WotC! That's a new record.
The third party IS the hobby.
F WotC. I'll never spend another dime on anything these rats produce.
Canceled my subscription today!
Canceled. I don't know why they just let this fester without addressing it.

Think about boycotting Hasbro directly and letting them know
Itinerant Deputy Shire-reave Tomas Burrfoot - world walker, Raft-captain, speaker to his dead
Toddy Shelfungus- Rider of the Order of Ill Luck, Speaker to Friends of Friends, and Horribly big nosed
Jarl Archi of Jenisis Glade Fee- Noble Knight of the Dragonborn Goldcrest Clan, Sorcerer of the Noble Investigator;y; Knightly order of the Wolfhound
