How many bears could a bearcat bear if a bearcat could bear bears?
How many buffaloes would a Buffalo buffalo buffalo if a Buffalo buffalo could buffalo buffaloes?

I do have a question - of all the playable characters in D&D - which is your favorite race/species/bloodline/whatever? (Don't include Class... just over all, which race/species/bloodline/whatever do you find yourself going to the most?)

It is really hard to pick just one. I think if I had to, I would probably pick Satyrs. I have always loved them, and used them all the time in games and stuff even before I knew about Dnd. I like how they are nature based, charismatic, chaotic, wild, goat people. Still, I wouldn't make every character a Satyr. I like dragonborn, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, dhampir, and more a lot too.
I do like the animal type races. They are also my dad's favorite races to play which I find funny. I am a little disappointed in the lack of lore in some of them though. Like the Harengon and the Owlin. I would really like them if they actually had interesting lore. But right now they are really disappointing lore wise.

Elves. Live a long time, dexterous, skilled, hang out in the woods. What's not to like?

I'm fair certain that somebody will find or create offense for whatever made up fiction of lore that anybody could possibly write.

Yeesh. I've played Dragonborn a lot and Shifters and Yuan-Ti are both cool, but the species that I really want to play in future are Harengon, Goblinkin, Changelings, and Lizadfolk.

When I sat down for that first game, I discovered that there were people like me in the game. Did not make the Tolkien connection at first, because I just loved the thought of someone who came from more than one culture, more than one people.
so, natch, mixed race teen me chose the OG mixed race: Half-Elf.
I also like half giants/ogres, Lizardfolk (I will not scratch my face), and I ended up creating my therians because I like the little bit beastly over the more furry style of animal folks.

amen.
there is no product or creation of mankind that is not offensive to someone, somewhere.
but also, offense is a them problem, not a problem of the thing.
and offense is not the same thing as harm.

My favorite PC was a Tabaxi, but I've most often played Tieflings and Half-Elves. In terms of favorites, I guess I like tieflings; my first character was one, and I like the options presented for the various arch-devil based tieflings

I actually haven't played the same race twice. I make an effort to try something new each time I roll up a character. That said, one of my favorites was an eladrin. Being a walking mood ring was a ton of fun.

Goblinoids, I'm used to the pre-Feywild assertion in MMM, but I'd be intrigued to play one as a PC (I have a whole gimmick in my main game where "classic" goblinoids and Feywild goblinoids cross paths and accuse each other of being the lost ones. David Bowie, Jareth also figures among the Fey goblinkin, and the "classic" goblin kin really have issues with "that guy" to the point that many get very wary around anything resembling a crystal or glass orb.

No idea, but I'm pretty sure it involves rolling for initiative.
Seconded.

I most often go for Elves. I blame the basic set and the ton of fantasy literature that made them out to be pretty.
Up next would be the animal type races - Heaengons, Tabaxi, Leonin, Tortle.
