There is data released by DDB that shows this for all players. A bit out of date, but much more comprehensive than any results you'll get here and bless biased as well.
That said, I've played the Wizard the most.

I don't really have a good reason for it, but I really enjoy the Cleric specifically the War Domain. I like how well rounded and powerful the class is, and most parties it fits well too. Able to hit pretty hard, and heal pretty well too. A good support class but you can still deal some damage plus the Devotee's Censer from Tasha's is a great fit flavor wise and it hits harder than the Warhammer if you can get it! It is also fun for a Paladin too. It also counts as a holy symbol if you'd rather dual wield instead of a shield. Guess I like the versatility to hit fairly hard and to heal fairly well too, though if you want to focus on one there are better options.
I am curious to see how others vote! Thanks for the poll.
I'm not sure how to quantify that. If it's by number of sessions, then paladin wins by a landslide thanks to running one in a campaign for over two years. If it's by number of different characters, then probably wizard because of the number of times I've made a wizard character only for the campaign to implode after only one or two sessions.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
I don't think I play any class the most. So far, I've never played the same class twice in 5e. But I can say that I play variations of bringing pain and bloodshed to enemies in a personal, up-close and physical manner, much more than I play standing at range and mumbling strange words (or firing arrows). I've yet to play a wizard (a sorcerer is on my current rotation of classes), I'll never play a warlock or artificer - and so I shall soon have to play a class I've tried before.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.

I mainly play fighters, when I want to try a full spellcasting class I play sorcerers and bards. For me their casting seems to be the easiest to get a grip of. Im interested in playing a ranger, as it seems up my alley. Clerics and paladins always looked promising (leaning towards paladins) but other than that none of the different classes really interested me.
To be honest I've made a conscious effort to play a different class at every opportunity... but i have to fight the urge to just play as a Bard every time. My first character I played in 5e was a bard and I don't think any other class quite feels as satisfying to play. Still, I have fun with the variety
Bard I guess, it’s the only class I’ve played more than once so far except for fighter, and I’ve only played two of those. My favorite class is Artificer though, but the subclasses don’t offer much variety for replayability.

I wish they updated that data at a regular interval. It'd probably boost site engagement a bit, as did a bunch of community engagement team put out on top of those data dives.
But FWIW, I am among many rogue players, but I feel this survey should have put out a screener choice of "rouge" to see how many people would fall for it.

I’d like to see it updated as well, but I doubt we will. When it was fandom owing the site, the data was a curiosity, so they let it loose. Now that wizards owns it, seems more like propriety market data/research.

Do you have a link I could refer to?
It's mostly on YouTube. Just Google "dndbeyond class usage statistics", go on images, and scroll til you find them.

Druid has been my go-to because I'm usually the "I'll be whatever the group needs" player, plus I have the system mastery to juggle 2014 wildshape and spells. With the new Warlock being able to choose its casting stat that may end up becoming my favorite however, depending on what they ultimately land on for the casting progression + MA.
A little poll to see which classes are most commonly played.
So far, no one has chosen Sorcerer or Artificer yet.

CENSORSHIP IS THE TOOL OF COWARDS and WANNA BE TYRANTS.
It is a toss up between Rogue and Warlock, but I think Rogue probably wins out by one or two characters in 5e.

Barbarian... I smash things gooder. The next campaign I'm in will also be a Barbarian, different subclass.
I mostly play multiclasses so where is/ are the choices there? My favorite is the ranger/sorceror.
