HOO BOY, this is one time where I'm happy to walk back my words! Legendary bundle owners should be receiving the discount on the core rulebooks, and it's an error if you are not!
I'm glad that's still being honoured (at least in theory, even if there's a [yet another] bug causing issues).
I have to say though, this feels like it's incredibly botched with all these "it's supposed to...but isn't..." problems.

Summary provided by our wonderful friends at ENWorld—thank you Kobold Stew!
PHB rules changes:
species and background are each half of pre-class
backgrounds list three ability scores, choose either +1/+1/+1 or +2+1 from among these.
character creation chapter has table to show which backgrounds enhance which classes. (This suggests the free mix-and-match of 2014 is gone)
Does this mean that free-form backgrounds as the primary system from playtest is gone?
Having seen this chunk of the video, this seems to be the case. We're going back to fixed, "generic" backgrounds you are obligated to take, which removes the majority of possible character concepts from play. I am deeply pissed off about this and will likely just have to homebrew a system more akin to the Origins Playtest because I am thoroughly sick of every single character being ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED to line up neatly and without deviation with one of eight or so boring and restrictive options that tell me the only thing my character is ever allowed to be.

Agreed. I've lost count, this is what now... the third time this has happened?

BLEH.
Going back to? Customizing backgrounds, (Aside from inventing new ribbon features) was part of the original 2014 PH.
There was no mention of custom backgrounds, yea or nay. I'll wait for the Character origins deep dive before being concerned.

Does this mean that subclasses not brought forward from 2014 will not be compatible with 2024 classes? What about other subclasses what do not follow the new 3rd level attainment system from Tasha's and the rest?
D&D Beyond Marketplace has "all 3 books" bundles which offer:
Dragons of D&D Digital Artbook (All bundles) 50th anniversary digital Gold Dragon mini releasing with the closed beta of the upcoming 3D virtual tabletop. (All bundles) Gold Digital Dice set (Physical & Digital Bundle and Digital Only Bundle)
D&D Beyond Marketplace is only available for US customers.
Non-US customers must use WotC which does not offer any "all 3 books" bundles at all and there are no extras, so none of the above are available. Is there a reason?

Also going to add, UK customers have to pay more. US can pay $179.97 and get extras, which is £141.68, but UK peeps on WotC when adding all 3 to cart pay £179.97 (worth $228.61) with no extras. I know you would have to account for extra bank charges for international transactions but, speaking from experience, those charges aren't remotely close to nearly $50 per transaction. Even when accounting margins for the free shipping - seems we're getting majorly shafted.
Yeah, definitely sticking to my decision to not bother investing in more D&D books.

I think you should maybe wait and see a bit. These concerns maybe addressed. And I feel them too as a Canadian.
If you purchase the Physical & Digital bundle, will the physicals be shipped out as released one by one, or will they be held until the last release date and sent then?
This is great news! How about a physical + digital bundle for the EU Store?
I wanted to get full clarification on this before I gave an answer, because there was a LOT of confusion about it.
So, UK/EU customers have physical/digital bundle options available in their stores for the three books individually. There's already a $20 (or monetary equivalent in your country) discount applied to that price. If you add all three to your cart, you get the same $60 (or equivalent) discount that someone purchasing from the DDB marketplace would get. It's all the same, and the only other discount available is what you'd get if you're a bundle owner. You also DO get any preorder perks with this purchase.
Does that make sense?

Hi! Thanks for the clarity you've provided so far. I purchased the legendary bundle and have linked my Wizards account to my Beyond account, but the 15% discount is not showing at any stage (on the storefront or at checkout) when I try to order the three 2024 bundles via the UK store. Could you please confirm if there is an ongoing issue or if there's a step I've missed in linking the UK store to my discount?

The issue has been fixed from what I can tell, but if it's still persisting for you, I'd say submit a Customer Support ticket. Might be something going on internally.

That doesn’t seem to tie with what I’m seeing (in the UK). Each of the 3 digital+physical bundles is priced at £60. There’s nothing to say that that is at a discount, and there are no standalone physical books on sale to compare that price against.
So as far as I can see that’s £180 ($229) to buy what’s $180 in the US.
Or, given that I could buy the digital set for $90 here in the UK, it means the price difference of adding on the physical books is $90 in the US and $139 here.

Piecemeal discounts should be working but doesn't, please contact Customer Support. Stacking Bundle Discounts with sales should be working but doesn't, please contact Customer Support. But don't try to use your piecemeal discount with a sale, that won't work anymore. The 15% Legendary Bundle Discount should be working but doesn't, so what do we contact Customer Support again?
