I haven't been keeping up with recent dnd beyond updates but are there any plans to add the unearthed arcana revised ranger as an option in character creation? I've been playing one for quite a while now in two different campaigns and it's starting to get annoying to have to go back and forth between 2 sources for my class abilities mid fight. Any information on this would be extremely helpful.
In what way are they being added? Will it just be under the "playtest material" option on the first page of character creation or will it be somewhere else?
Typically, Unearthed Arcana content is added to D&D Beyond one week after the Unearthed Arcana article is published on the Wizards of the Coast website.
Access to this content is indeed enabled by toggling on the "playtest content" switch on the first page of character options.
I to would like to know if Revised Ranger might become an option, every character app on PC I come across never seems to support it. Sadly I have only found one android app that I can import a customer race someone made, however, I would like an easier (aka bigger screen) application to use.

The Revised Ranger is not going to be officially available on DDB unless a new version is released as Unearthed Arcana or as part of a new official supplement from WotC. Judging by the last few months, though, the idea of revised classes does not really appeal the development team, so there are very slim chances of the above ever happening .
Luckily for everyone interested there should be the possibility of adding custom base classes here in DDB, allowing for the class to be coded-in. Now, I am afraid it will only be possible to keep it as a private homebrew (as in: not possible to publish) due to the obvious overlaps with published content (the current Ranger class), but it's going to be your best option at getting the class integrated with the system here.

What would be the best way for doing this? will it be possible in the future to export them later and share with friends?

We won't know until dev team makes some kind of announcement about it.
If the other homebrew tools are anything to go on, I suspect homebrew core classes will be possible to share with people in your campaign (as in, with you in a DDB created campaign), but in terms of exporting, I think the only option would be to "print to PDF" the class page.
As in how to do it, still no info, but I suspect it's going to be something similar to the current subclasses homebrew tool.

I've saw a lot of discussions about it and this topic seems to be the most recent one, nothing changed. The year is 2020 and players still can't use the Revised Ranger in DDB.
A lot of players want to use UA Ranger in DDB (because a lot of players dislike PHB Ranger). Years of discussion and we still can't use it like a playtest or homebrew content. I know about "UA before 2018 is archived" or "when WoTC release another UA we will make Revised Ranger playable", yeah ok but how about making your customers and your community happy by launching the Revised Ranger at once, letting us create characters with it?
I'm not angry, it's a real question 'cause as far as I know it should be all about help the community, making things easier and improve the DnD experience
For real. I get that a line in the sand needs to be drawn somewhere, but the Revised Ranger is so huge and so popular that I'd think an exception to the 2018 rule could be made for this....that or yeah, deliver on the promise of being able to make custom base classes....like, instead of a dice roller whose results don't export to any VTT.
The revised ranger died and the game’s publisher exercised their legal right to have it buried. They have since come out with a Class Feature Variants UA that includes something called the Variant Ranger. In fact, there are variant rules for all of the classes in there. We are currently waiting for DDB to finish implementing it.
Necro thread: the phb ranger isn't bad. The revised ranger is just worlds better. Favored enemy and favored terrain in phb and optional class features are just plain bad, and the weaker hunters mark is just weaker hunters mark.
At 20th level, your wolf ends up with 80hp, which at 20th level is 2 hits tops, and outright killed by most spells of 6th level or higher with an above averagedamage roll. That's less than a wizard that has (by almost half) and the wizard has tools for staying out of hitting range. Compare that to the revised ranger which gets ASI's, and hp like a player, hp that scales better, to hit and damage that scales better (and isn't significantly better than other classes)
Especially at the table, the phb ranger is fine. Scout rogue does nature things better, wizard does recon better, fighter is tougher and more mobile, paladin is a stronger caster, phb ranger is generally ok at almost everything, but great at nothing.
Revised ranger is solid at most things and great at a few, and its class features feel impactful and fun.
Putting it in dbb in a good way would involve giving the GM tools to fix its glaring flaws, so I'd guess that's the current holdup; RAW, the L7+ benefits of the subclass don't apply to the Primal Companion. DDB can't know if GMs want to keep the RAW or houserule it so they do work. Even with such a house rule, the L7 benefit does nothing, since the Primal Companion gets that at L3 already.
The revised ranger had long since been abandoned by Wizards of the Coast and as with all abandoned UA, D&D Beyond doesn't support it. As such, it won't be making an appearance on the site

Are we not talking about the Tasha's rules for rangers and the Primal Companion?

The revised ranger isn't going to make WotC any money. It's gone forever in the support department.
Also, "That's less than a wizard that has (by almost half) and the wizard has tools for staying out of hitting range." Really? By half? That's not true. The wolf is also dodging much of the time and has an armor class of 19 while naked. Share spells is now a thing as well. How many single attacks from most monsters do more than 10-20 damage on a hit? Most monsters make up their DPR with multiattack. And ins't a good thing if the wolf takes a few hit occasionally? Isn't that part of their job for the subclass?
And why is "...phb ranger is generally ok at almost everything, but great at nothing..." a bad thing? You just listed the strongest feature of four different classes and said the ranger does all of them just about as good.

Only Unearthed Arcana articles published from 1st January 2018 onwards are being added to D&D Beyond.
The articles prior to that date are considered archived, or have been published in official books.

The ability to homebrew base classes is now a planned feature. It is considered low priority and no planned release date yet, but it is something.
