Sorry if this has been asked and answered previously, but I was wondering if there any DMs out there who use Beyond to track notable NPCs, or their villains, as an example... Are there any best practices?
I'm busy running Curse of Strahd, and I have the content on DDB, but constantly trying to find Ismark and Ireena's stats and weapons etc would be a lot easier if I could create, for instance, a character for them on DDB. Of course the problem is that most NPC's don't have the standard Classes (Ismark is a Bandit Captain, for instance).
Any advice, other than just keeping separate paper sheets for each NPC?
EDIT: Oh, and having a digital sheet for Strahd himself would be helpful...
Create a character for yourself. (Don't worry about stats, just make one named "NPCs") Add them in the "Creatures" section. For instance, add a veteran and change it's name to Ireena. You can track HP, it gives you their stat block, and has a section for notes. Probably want to keep the notes simple...not sure what the character count limit is.
I create links to the NPCs in the DM notes section of my campaign. I was creating homebrew "monsters" for NPCs that are described in an adventure as "use the X statblock, but with Y and Z changes." But, the DDB staff are doing this themselves these days, so I generally don't have to anymore.

Smort!
Thanks, that's a great idea!
