So, in case you missed the title, I ain't the jolliest hobbit in the hole right now. Lemme tell y'all why.
So. A while back, the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron came out, and I was all "Oh hey cool Eberron has a book Imma get that."
So I did. But then here comes along Rising from the Last War, and bippity boppity, WGtE is obsoletoppity. No one's gonna use it anymore, now that the bigger, better, officialer E:RftLW(lord, that's a mouthful) is out. Welp, there's my twenty bucks down the drain. Fun.
The next thought I had was "Well, it's basically just WGtE but official, and it has all the stuff WGtE has, plus more, so maybe I'll get a discount?"
Ha ha no.
So, basically, me and everyone else who has dumped cash into WGtE has been thoroughly hoodwinked, bamboozled, bilked, conned, fleeced, and all those other synonyms that I just looked up. Yay.
Anyhoo, rant over.

When Wayfinder's Guide came out there was a LOT of hooplah about it being "only" playtest material as though everyone who went in on it had been duped. It says it's playtest material in the intro, so you knew an official book was coming at some point. The downside is that when the Wayfinder's Guide came out, the description for purchase didn't make it clear it was only Playtest material. Would have been nice to know beforehand. With that being the case, it would be nice to see some discount passed forward to the actual official book seeing as how anyone that purchased the Wayfinder's helped with the playtest to polish the final outcome.
That said from someone with no stakes in the matter either way.
Someone told me that wayfinders got an update. So the being official thing shouldn't be a problem. You should have all of the races and stuff, but not all the artificer subclasses, and not the new stuff they added in.

It still very much annoys me that I’ve got to pay the full price for the other book, because, let’s face it, buying individual things for 2 bucks apiece ain’t worth it. If I want all the new things that I don’t get from WGtE, it costs about 112 bucks, not counting compendium content. That charging 2 bucks apiece for stuff is also a load of it, by the way.

Yeah. That $2 is the minimum that they can charge for anything. Note that if you buy a $5 book and use BookThanks, it's still $1.99. For some people, they only want a couple particular items from a book. Not all the spells or all the subclasses offered. But, the individual pricing really works for some people and that cost does get added to your future purchases to be applied toward the entire book or towards the bundle packages.
At this point; however, Might be best to just eat the $30 for the new book or wait for another book sale. That said, if you're into the sourcebooks, the current bundle sale is likely the best deal on the lot you could hope for and the savings should assure your conscious about the cost of having to buy said book twice just to get the more official version.
Yeah, the level of content overlap is way too extreme.
WotC acknowledges that wasn't handled very well and likely won't be doing that again. DDB is offering a refund on WGtE for anyone unsatisfied with their purchase (just contact support).
We realize that the Wayfinder's experiment with early access was a new type of distribution from WotC and lessons were learned. If you are still unsatisfied, feel free to contact our support team to request a refund for WGtE - we are committed to doing right by our customers.
So, if I get a refund for WGtE and buy RftLW, will I have everything that was in WGtE plus more, or are there things in WGtE that aren't in RftLW?

The clawfoot raptor is the only content that is exclusive to WGtE. The chapter about Sharn was the only chapter I could tell contained different information.
You can buy the raptor separate for 1.99$, so you are only missing some info about Sharn (there is still plenty in ERftLW).

Also known as CrafterB and DankMemer.
Here, have some homebrew classes! Subclasses to? Why not races. Feats, feats as well. I have a lot of magic items. Lastly I got monsters, fun, fun times.
