I've noticed several things missing from the Character Creator, and while I really wanna use it and this website, when its missing even the most basic things such as the Hermit Background, Every Oath but Devotion for Paladin, Every Feat but Svlenifbr Magic and Grappling and so on. So when is this going to be completed considering the website officially opened yesterday?
I was just about to ask the same question. I tried building a rogue, and it only gave me the option for the Thief archetype, wouldn't allow me to select the feat I had grabbed as I leveled up, etc.
So I have to buy your PHB to get the most basic of things. Well crap.
Second most basic, really. The absolute most basic (Berserker barbarians, Life clerics, Devotion paladins, Thief rogues, Fiend warlocks, etc.) are free.

For Curse to even be ALLOWED to legally give the public access to the source books, they need to pay WotC money who in turn gives them license to use and display their material. Curse needs to make back that investment somehow...
Frankly I feel that their prices are MORE then fair, even if it sucks having to re-buy books.
Ultimately I will keep buying books that interest me until that legendary pack is more appealing, then i will pay the difference for that 15% going forward.

I think this sums it up quite well. Curse has a set of rules they have to follow in order for WotC to allow them to use their IP. Giving away paid content wouldn't help either Wotc or Curse. The Curse Devs worked their asses off converting all those books and adventures over to digital format, and the prices they are going for are more than reasonable.
WotC is not the one selling this stuff, Curse is...
Curse has to pay WotC to be able to use there stuff and they need to recoup that loss somehow.
Again WotC did NOT create DnDBeyond nor do they manage it. Unless WotC decides to give them free license to use their content, it is no surprise that Curse has to recoup their licensing cost somehow.

Matter of opinion. To me, asking me to pay $20 for the privilege of making it a little less....you know, handwritey, to make my character sheet is pretty obnoxious

Let's see if I can't put this another way. D&D Beyond is operated by Curse. Curse had to work to get the licensing rights from WotC. They then had to convert all the books into digital format. Then they built all the tools to go along with the digital books. Badeye fought hard to get the prices you see on the marketplace. Those prices are comparable to Amazon prices. The $20 sale you will not find anywhere else. Now, if you already have the books, then sure, maybe you don't want to buy them again. That's perfectly fine, you aren't forced to. You aren't being forced to use these tools either. The purpose of D&D Beyond is to make things more accessible in the mobile world, and it succeeds at that. With all the time and work that has been put into the site, not to mention the licensing, I would honestly say $20 to make a digital character that you can carry around in your phone is quite a steal.
Maybe I worded my question wrong. I have all the books and the print out extras. What I want to know is if I buy the Master Subscription will I have access in Beyond to make a Tiefling Variant Storm Sorcerer or will I only have access to the regular Tiefling with the basic Dragon Sorcerer?

If you've purchased all the books, then you have access to all the content. The subscriptions deal with the site tools.
Hehehe.. I know I have access to all the content via paper/book. What I want to know, is if I will have access to make my character via the site tools with the same access on the site. I don't want to pay for the Master Subscription if I can't make a character digitally that I could with the paper/book.

The Subscriptions do not give access to the digital content. You have to purchase to digital content. Hardcover books do not give you access to digital content.

If I am understanding you, here's the deal. If you want access to all the character options when creating a character on DDB, you have to purchase the digital versions of the books in the marketplace. The fact you own the physical books has no impact on what you can do on DDB. Subscriptions expand the abilities of the tools (sharing content, unlimited character creation, etc.).

You are seeing and using only the free material. More material need a purchase to be used. Check the Marketplace section.

I own the Player's Handbook. Like, I'm looking right at it.
But WotC wants me to give them another $20 for a digital version of it so I can build my character through a web portal?
Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. They should have come up with a way for those of us who already have the physical books to be able to use the forms.

Is everything from the PHB and SCAG and EEC in the paid version? I don't want to pay for it if it all isn't in there.
