Seconded. Though I wouldn't be surprised if WOTC wouldn't allow such offline viewing of the books with how paranoid they are about piracy
They already allow it with tablets. Plus it's easy enough to do if you're not as principled as WotC would like. I imagine it's just development costs, they don't see it as being as big an ROI as other things, so they haven't prioritised it.
A tablet and/or phone's file storage system, especially in-app files, is very difficult to access if you don't have the knowhow. On a PC/MAC, this is far easier, allowing the ripping and sharing of books to be a lot easier. That was the point I was trying to make, though I understand how I was a little unclear there.
Leaving OGL 1.0(a) untouched and making SRD 5.1 CC-BY-4.0 is a great first step. The next is a promise to do the same for future editions. Here's a discussion thread on that.

That makes sense, I thought it a little...odd.

The app works while offline.. so if you want to use it on PC, use a Android emulator and download the app within.
It's a solution, but it's a kinda bad one. The interface is awful for full-size screens and the app is misschien certain functions that the website does have

I anm online while running games, but honestly the website is pretty slow. I don’t understand why it takes multiple seconds to search through the spell or monster list. I build web apps for a living and mine search through millions of records in well under half a second. Without global homebrew content, there searches should take under 1/10th of a second on 20-year-old hardware. I wish there was a faster option. Of course, I also want to be able to search content I’ve acquired elsewhere. Unfortunately there isn’t a business incentive to standardize an industry standard format for this content, but it’s worth building because it could make designing and running amazing sessions better and easier. Right now, I have to comb though dozens of PDFs for monsters, spells, NPCs, and items, and import them into whatever tool I can reasonably get everything into. It’s a giant pain.
pls help me ive been looking on google for a windows download for the app but i cant find it. i already have the app on my phone but the laptop would be much more convenient for me
If you really need to use the app instead of the website there is a way to use the phone app on your computer. It will require using Windows 10 or above, and an Android phone, plus internet on both. These have Phone Link (built in, in most cases), which is a windows app that lets you use your phone through your computer. This includes screen-sharing to use apps. If you have bluetooth enabled you can even make and receive phone calls through your computer instead of the phone, which I find useful since I can hear better using headset and my headset has better mic than my phone does.
Since it still requires internet and the website is superior to the app in basically every way, I don't know how useful this would be. I only do this when I need to make a video guide for something app-related. Could be useful if the site is having issues, maybe?
Just thought I'd share in case it's helpful. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No need to share screens. Install an android emulator (e.g. BlueStacks or LDPlayer) on your PC/Laptop and add the app there.
Phone Link always work while emulators don't. Emulators take more resource and not every computer can run them. I tried BlueStacks and my laptop could not run it.

DDB is great, but it could be better. Here are some things I think could improve DDB

A windows based D&D Beyond App is absolutely necessary going forward.
Please Hasbro/WoTC, make this a thing.

There is no desktop app. You use the website here for your laptop.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a Mimic.
