I'm really excited about this campaign my players have already been developing their characters and I've been making some lore involving vampire hunters called the Icedawn. I reckoned because of the endless night vampires would be swarming to Icewind dale. The vampire villain is called Cyan Bloodbane.
Like the dragon from Dragonlance! That’s so cool.
Yeah, It sounded more like a vampire name than a green dragon name. Bloodbane definitely suits a vampire than a dragon I think.

I've preordered this book from Amazon. It will arrive on September 15th (the day it is released). I'm thoroughly excited for it.
I already pre-ordered it through. Debating if I should get it physically.
I get rule books in physical print, adventures I only get digitally.

Cyan means bluish green, so maybe make the vampire’s eyes blue or green.

Yeah, I'll make him have green eyes, also I was thinking with the PC secrets if I'm gonna do the Icedawn questline if I could make one of the secrets that one of the characters have contracted vampirism and the other doesn't know about it.

A wizards official announcement stated that to provide a "bonus" to pre-orderers, the first print run WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH 4E PCs. Link to Dragon+ article: <insert "never gonna give you up" here>
Anyone who did not read my posts on bad ideas may be very confused. I am indeed trolling you.
After watching some YouTube videos of people previewing the book. I am very disappointed in the book. No new subclasses(even though the potential is there for a Druid subclass). the taunted many spells that will be in the book is only three wizards spells. I haven’t read the adventure yet so I can’t tell about that. The monster section is the only thing is note as it does introduce some more wildshape beasts for druids(arctic fox, snowshoe hare, seal, walrus). I am still excited for the monsters and am hoping to at least run though the story as a player but the extras are just bleh.
oh I forgot about new magical items yea because they only item of note is a scroll to summon a tarrasque.

I would love an official Walrus statblock.

Don’t get me wrong I love that there are now official stat blocks for arctic fox, snowshoe hare, seal, walrus and other new beasts. Especially when it is new beasts and therefore new wildshapes for a druid(especially an arctic druid).
I don't think it's fair to assume subclasses will come in an adventure book.
You are right. It just seemed like a good book to have one.
In 5e, there have never been any player options inside of an adventure book outside of a few spells and backgrounds. Subclasses are definitely not something to expect in an adventure book. Though WotC loves making cash-grab books, they're smart enough to not do that.

I think this is an expectation management problem. This is an adventure, not a sourcebook. 50 monster stat blocks and some new spells, plus a reprint/update for the Goliath race is pretty amazing. Usually we get a couple of stat blocks and a couple of magic items to go with the adventure. This is a lot of bonus stuff that we don't usually get from an adventure.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
I may have missed this but has there been any announcement about who the map artist is this time? The last few books have gone for simplistic maps that I'm really not a fan of the style they've used since dragon heist and miss the detailed colour maps from the earlier books.

I don't recall hearing it mentioned. I don't think it was Schley though.

I've seen some reddit threads analyzing the content from the video and TBH I'm not sure how to feel about a particular lore piece in there - those obelisks that supposedly appear in previous adventures as well.
If it means what people think it means, it's both exciting and worrisome. Can't decide yet whether I'm exciting or worried :D

That’s a great idea!
What ideas would you have on making homebrew secrets, I might make a thread about this.

Maybe one of the PCs is being blackmailed by an evil cult (Bane works)?
Just a thought
That could work
