I'm not sure I understand the pricing.
I'm a DM. If I subscribe, I have access to certain materials for me and for my players. From previous notes, I understand that I have "player slots" but I dont know how many. SO I assume that at least some of my players will need their own subscriptions.
I also assume that as a subscriber I have accees only to content I unlock by purchasing the digital books. The current content is free as it is now.
Are these safe assumptions?
Yeah...It's a good news for me :)
Everybody Lies...
You've already bought them three times... why so mad now?

@JRedmond
I frankly do not feel like we are disagreeing. I am not going to ask for a discount or free stuff. I know I will eventually get all the books. I suspect you will too, perhaps earlier than me.
The entire reason I came out of the shadows is not that I felt the price was bad, or to defend people who do not like the pricing, nor to defend those who are saying the pricing is okay. What I am here for. The only reason I am putting myself out here now, which is something I genuinely do not enjoy doing is that I see people attacking each other instead of listening. This is going to be my last post. I prefer to lurk than to be out in the open like this. So I guess I just hope someone takes something positive out of this. We are not words on a screen. We are people. We all have our own means and our own methods. We have limits and we have strengths. In the end, D&DB is something good, something made to bring people together and facilitate playing this game that we all care about. I just hope everyone tries to be their best selves. Goodbye, all and good luck on your rolls.

I have read some of the comments here, and it's a bit disheartening. That being said I will say my peace and move on.
As it stands I will not be able to afford the content on here. I too was hoping there would be a 15 dollar per month sub that would allow me access to all content, but if I stopped paying then I stopped getting access. Sort of like a pay to play MMORPG. I know it may seem weird, but 15 per month is more doable than 25-50 dollars per book.
That being said, I am happy that plans for this are moving forward. Thanks Curse!
I, on the other hand, see this as a problem. I called it so back in last years trend of $500 dollar PRG Kickstarter's that came out.Saying that the new standard for pricing is going to slowly become "Your group should share all the costs." It will and has begun to spawn a trend of increased prices in the industry as well as how do groups handle who gets what when it comes time for the group to go their separate ways.
Too rich for my blood. I really love the work that's been done so far but I really can't afford it. I might be one of those people who would want to try it a month or two but my heart wouldn't be in it and I know I'd just not afford it all in the end.
Really excited for this! I'm glad that the release date is so soon so I can start playing with it ASAP.
I am perfectly happy with the pricing model, as I actually expected everything to cost more. I was anticipating a $10 month sub for the DM tier, with each book costing around $50 to purchase. The fact that it is only going to cost me $6 per month as a DM, and I can get the 3 core books for only $60 total on launch week is awesome!
I'm a big fan of D&D Beyond as I have long wanted a digital toolset for my games. I've had to make do with other systems, and none of them quite worked the way I wanted. This is going to give me everything I need, and my players need, to have more fun at our table with less headache. A lot of my players are new to D&D, and thus having an easy way for them to level up and keep track of their character (with me able to keep tabs on them) is incredible.
I will say I have purchased all of the books already, and do not feel bad or ripped off in the slightest in having to purchase them again in a digital format. The digital version being offered here is so much more than just a PDF of the books, its an entire resource of helped links and content.
Really looking forward to launch day, and I would like to say a big Thank You to the entire D&D Beyond team at Curse for their amazing product!
We really need to see a campaign in progress using the tool(video or free campaign)
So far I'm not too impressed that I would fork out another $60 to $75 (plus $6 subscription) just for running campaigns using digital copies of book I already own. Character builder/homebrew creator is nice and all that but came on!!!
So if you buy a book digitally and you let your subscription expire, do you still have access to your books?
I just want to jump in here and thank everyone on this thread for keeping things civil and presenting their perspectives on the discussion without resorting to personal insults or anything that requires a moderator to take action.
Compared to the discussion I am seeing elsewhere across the internet, that's pretty awesome.
Whether I agree with what you're saying, or not, thank you for being a cool bunch of people. <3
