Yes, but these days when you buy a DVD they almost always come with a digital copy at no extra cost. For example, I just bought the DVD for Batman Lego movie for $19.99 and it comes with a digital version free, so...

You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
The DM doesn't have to be the one with a Masters account, your group has the account and can remove or add up to 12 free accounts as they want.

Well again that is the convenience fee to all of it. At the end of the day you can type this all yourself for free into the homebrew manager and have it for your own use with a free account. They aren't making you but anything, but if you want them to do the work for you they would like compensation.
Point taken. I can see the difference. Let me say then that, if there is ever a 6th edition, perhaps WotC will have the foresight to work on a digital version concurrently.

Tons of posts to go through but was there any mention of a pay One-Time option. I'm not doing a monthly subscription and thought there was talk of having a one shot payment and done.

It's a bummer for the cash-strapped but digitally keen players/DMs that re-purchasing of digital content already owned in hard copy is required to use the service. It would be amazing if the hard copies had identifiers we could use to unlock the content we've already purchased. I also get that a lot of work went into it and we aren't being forced to use it, etc. but it is still a major bummer.

I totally understand not being able to offer any discounts for those that have purchased the hardback versions. What I would like to know, has there been any discussion for those that buy the digital version, a possibility for a discount/coupon for the hardback versions? As awesome as DDB is, I think I will still want to have the hardback version on hand.
And I can’t recall if this has been mention before or not, but how will the DMs Guild interact with this? I know some modules contain the files needed for FG. I was wondering if there could/would be anything like that for this.
