Is all of the content on this site only available with a subscription? Is there any kind of a discount for those of us who have already invested in D&D hardcopies?

One is not 'gaining electronic access' to their previously-owned physical copies. One is purchasing a new license for intellectual property offered in a different medium.
One does not receive a free DVD because they purchased the VHS years prior. We all choose which medium to purchase our entertainment, knowing it can be outdated as technology advances. :D

already seeing some rumblings that forcing the "hero" sub on people to use homebrew is you trying to profit off of other people's work, drawing comparison to Bethesda and paid mods.
why can't free users add homebrew content to their game if they can still share what they create or just recreate it as a private homebrew?
I like the subscription Tier prices... Though, I am a little iffy about paying that much for digital books when I already own all the Hardcovers. I mean, I will, because I freaking love this community and the work you guys have put into bringing D&D into the future, but those seem a little pricey for the books. I mean, the PHB is $30 on Amazon too...so paying $10-$15, okay...but $30? Damn, just take my money...lol will there be more sales on digital content and possibly (if you can divulge this information, probably not but...) in the future will there be a price drop on digital books? I'm happy there will be a sale the first week, but Idk, you've seen the comments for months. We just don't want to pay that much for digital content, especially when it is the same price as D&D books on Amazon. If we get hardcovers will there be discount codes for DDB? THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!! I would totally be okay with the $30 price tag if I got 50% when I have a hardcover book as well. Still, awesome work and sorry I had so many gripes and questions about pricing. Just got bills and stuff that comes before this hobby lol

Although pricing looks ok. having bought most books as hardcopy and also digitally on fantasygrounds. buying them a 3rd time on this platform... D&D already not a cheap hobby to start with as DM. Would be nice that if you already own digital content on D20 or fantasy grounds you could somehow migrate it over. Can understand that hardcopy may be more difficult to prove.
Do I understand this correctly?
For a regular party running a standard campaign, the DM would pay $29.99 each for the three main rule books, plus $24.99 for an adventure, plus $5.99/month for a subscription. (So ~$115 upfront, plus $72 a year.)
On top of that, each player would be expected to pay $2.99/month.
So that's a total of $115 upfront, plus $252/year for a 5-player party and a DM. Plus $30 when new rule books come out and $25 when new adventures come out. Plus, for many, the cost of physical books as well. That… seems like a lot.

I use summon instrument to summon my kettle drum, hold it overhead like Donkey Kong, and chuck it at the nearest kobold.
The pricing seems completely reasonable to me.
I do wonder if there will be a 3/6/12 month option.
The only think I don’t like is that the special price is only for a week after launch. That’s GenCon week and my money is spread thin as it is.
Is there a list of what adventures will be ready at launch?
Will the tablet/phone apps also be available at launch?

Quick question, under the hero tier, when I create a character will I have access within the character build section to all D&D content? For example if I have a necromancer wizard that has access to spells from Elemental Evil will I be able to add that to my spell list under the hero tier subscription?
Even as someone who has been a complete fan from Beta Day 01, I am surprised and impressed at how reasonable the pricing structure is. I genuinely expected a $5-player / $10-DM subscription. I totally get why people are frustrated at the idea of buying content they already own (Out of the Abyss, for my own situation), but we have to keep in mind that all the content from the book had to be transcribed, reformatted, hyperlinked, tested, and more to make it usable by DDB. Especially for something like Out of the Abyss, I will be happy to by the DBB version simply because it will put any information from the book at my beck and call, compared the the book itself which I think many will agree was haphazardly structured.
There's still some features I'd like to see implemented over time, but for now, this is way beyond what I expected for the price tag. Well done, WotC!

If the DM has a Master subscription they players don't need to have one. They get access to all the DM's content so long as they are part of the campaign.
