((Just an info for the dm, Trinjya is suffering from sever claustrophobia when it comes to dark, confining places, espescially when she feels she is being trapped, seems like it could be relevant at soom point...))
Good to go, I think! Let us descend! Horatio has his imp run point, invisible with eyes and ears open for trouble and relaying information telepathically.
I'll go last, both to avoid broadcasting our location as much with the lantern and because Perigord dislikes the unknown/darkness, so he's happy to have others in front.
(OOC - I'll post up a map of the interior tomorrow for you when I'm home again.)
As you descend into the hole, you notice the air is dank and thick. As the sun beam tries its best to cut into the gloom, you can see the dust swirling in the air as you descend. At the bottom of the ladder, you notice another lantern on the ground, unlit, and a little further away a body lies on the ground. Looking around the room, it is a large space. Several windows and the main doors have caved in, with dirt and roots, at various points around. Nearby you see several large bookshelves, lined with old, dust-encrusted books and tomes.

Trinjya keeps herself at the back of the group, descending the ladder just in front of Perigord. She doesn't need it to be able to see, bit she is still happy close to the lantern which sheds light on the room around the group. Upon seeing the body she imidiately scans the room for any kind of threat, looking for signs of living creatures, ppssible traps and entryways or holes in the rooms walls, which an attacker could use to get to the group(and which are not obviously visible).
Perception:[20
While she watches out for anything suspicious, she says:
"Looks like the previous tenants of our camp did not get very lucky with their excavation."

Perigord scoops up the lantern and checks it for oil hopefully.
"Yes, I wonder what happened to him. The nothic, perhaps? He's quite close to the exit, I wonder why he didn't leave. These bookshelves are promising, though- seems like something a nothic would like."
Perigord then inspects the body to try and determine more about it. (specifically what might have caused its death, but really just anything interesting)

Perigord, you are able to see that whoever this was, they were slashed across their back as they tried to run from something with large claws.
To describe the space a little more, now that you have a map to reference, the space is a large and open space, though the air is thick with dust. The stairs to the south west of the ladder lead down to the remains of a door that has caved in and a desk, that you would assume to be the front desk or entry way. The pillars that lead up the centre of the map (circles about 10ft apart) hold the ceiling up over a small balcony-like wall, allowing an open space to see out throughout the structure if only the air were clearer. A second body lies, similar to the first, face down and slashed, at the top of the stairs you see. A search of these bodies provides very little information as to who they were or why they were here, however.
The lantern at the base of the ladder appears to have burnt out, using all of its oil from when it was previously lit, though the lantern appears to be in good repair otherwise.
"Well, I say we move forward. But, Samael- the nothic corpse you saw, did it seem to have large, slashing claws? If so, we need to be cautious- the nothic may be harder to reason with than we thought."
Perigord stands up, averting his gaze from the corpse as he straightens his armor. He speedily performs last rites over the two corpses, quickly praying as he closes their eyes and arranges them into a more comfortable posture.

Horatio would have wanted to search the bodies, as well. Seeing Perigord get to it first, Horatio will gravitate towards the shelves, giving a brief overview to see if he can recognize the script, or any particular names. (Investigation if needed: 22)
As the group starts to decide where to go, he suggests, "Let's check out this floor first, before we delve any deeper - we wouldn't want to have the same problem these had."
A whisper of wings, and Gandalon soars about the room, searching for further points of interest on this floor. Perhaps flying over the bookcases to the north towards the stone statue in that direction. (Perception: 6)

Trinjya is taking so.e time to calm herself. As Horatio wanders off to inspect one of the book shelves, Trinjya will walk to the one on the other s8de of the group to inspect it as well (there seem to be shelves south and north of the ladder). She slowly makes her way towards the stairewell while keeping close to the shelve, reading the titles of books, trying to discern what kind of place this used to be.
OOC: Rotfang, I don't think the nothic is in sight.
Perigord will also peruse the shelves briefly, trying to read the titles (he knows Deep Speech, Halfling, Celestial, and Common), and he will move towards the stairs. Assuming he cannot read any of the books, he will go downstairs and look for more clues.
(i'm personally going to go carefully towards the nothic's location. weapons are not out,and I have a question:
if nothics are deformed wizards/spellcasters, wouldn't they know languages besides undercommon as well?)
(OOC - you have yet to see any nothic in here and there's no indication of where it is at this point either, but maybe soon ;) )
As you peruse the books on the shelves, many have disintegrated or perished. Some still look solid, but as you pick them up, their bindings and pages fall apart in your hand. Of the few books that you find that don't fall apart in this section near the ladder, you find the following books.
Flowers of the Depths - by B. Darkhelm Fungi of Magic - by L. Highdust Herbs of the Mountains - by J. R. Wildstrider
(OOC - if you wish, you can take any of these books with you, though they will each take a slot in your inventory.)
As you look at the northern bookcases, you can see north of there that there are several seats and a statue along the eastern wall. At the far north end of the room and your position at the bookcase, you notice a simple table alongside a low wall (i.e. about waist high) that follows on from the one that spans between all the pillars.
As some of you head down the stairs to your west, you see the large doors to this building have collapsed inwards from the dirt and roots pressing against them. They now lie broken and leaning on the large desk that you would assume is a point of welcome to this old library that was for some reason swallowed up by the earth. As you slowly make your way down, you see one of the creatures, the very same as the one Samael witnessed in the wizard tower in town, stand up from its low position behind the desk. It peers at you with its large green eye, tilting its head slightly as it does.
(OOC - whoever is in front, make a Deception check, DC 20)
((I think that would be Perigord since murfle was the only one who actually said he would go down the stairs, right? Since however, he said this under the condition that there are no books he can read, It could also be Trin because she would not have stopped to read any of them(though she would have stopped at the top of the stairs not going down.))
