The party departs the wood elf village on the northern road. It's a simple dirt road that narrows to about 10 feet wide and periodically meanders through the thick conifers. Shafts of radiant sunlight cast through the forest canopy offering brilliant sights of the vibrant and lush summer forest.
For traveling, everyone can commit to one of the following tasks:
Navigate: The character who is leading the group using the map needs to make a DC 11 WIS (survival) check. Succeeding the check will mean the party finds the temple, no problem. A failed check will cause a delay.
Forage: There was some interest in looking for materials to make potions. Whoever decides to search for them can make a DC 14 WIS (survival) check. If the check succeeds, the reward is 1d4 (I’ll roll it) resources for making potions. Failing this check will cause a delay.
Watch: Should the navigation or forage roll go awry, the delay could be dangerous. Whoever takes watch can make a WIS (perception) check to keep an eye out for danger during the travel. This could help prevent an ambush or help evade a possible trap.
Assist: Anyone can use their travel action to assist someone with one of the above actions. Doing so grants advantage to that player’s roll. If you are going to help, please try to say so before the person makes their roll so that they can roll their advantage alongside the original roll.
*Delays: A random encounter will occur if the navigation or the forage check is failed. Without giving away too much detail, the random encounter table isn't just combat encounter, but could entail traps or simply getting lost for a while.
Thokk will look for pretty flowers, his aunt's always said to get pretty flowers. He will go with Snow to find pretty flowers. Pretty flowers for pretty Faen.
During their travels throughout the forest, Dmitrei is always on the lookout for helpful and medicinal herbs. He remembers the moss tip that the gnome merchant gave him. Whenever the group stops Dmitrei spends some extra time looking for these herbs. H knows that if he can get even a couple of the key herbs he can turn them into healing potions. Thokk often comes with Dmitrei to look at them, as he puts them, pretty flowers. Yes, they are pretty but Thokk doesn't know what these flowers can do in the hands of someone who knows more about them than their looks and smells.

The guardians have no trouble finding their way. The map proves true to its simplicity. Following the road north, Jinx and Faen lead the party to a forked path. A statue bearing the head of a unicorn marks the small footpath leading into a thick grove of trees, beyond lies the forest temple. Meanwhile, the hunt for healing components proves fruitful. Near the road, the human and the half-orc discover a thicket of green serrated plants. Dmitrei recognizes the Aloe plant as the healing agent the forest gnome recommended they search for. The aloe has a vibrant red spiny flower protruding from the top that Thokk might find pretty enough to keep for himself. Collecting the green leaves will prove useful in crafting a healing tonic later.
Now, the forest temple lies just ahead. How does the group wish to approach?
As the temple comes into view Dmitrei says allowed
“I cannot believe I’m going to be going into Gridori’s temple. I’ve waited a my whole life for this journey.”
He’ll then turn to his fellow teammates and say “Lore told us that nobody has been inside for years because of some insect creatures that hide in the shadows. We should approach slowly and cautiously paying attention for any ambushes or movement in the shadows. I don’t have the ability to create light but I can light up a torch to spread some light. I’ll need it to see anyways if it’s dark down there. Does anyone have any other ideas before we make our way closer to the temple?” Dmitrei finishes waiting patiently for his teammates to respond.
Thokk freezes, his greataxe halfway pulled out and a look of shock on his face, "Oh, quiet...right" he says putting the weapon away, a look of dismay now Don's his face.
"We should approach with caution of course and fan out as not to get caught in a group if attacked," Jinx says with confidence as she stows the map in her backpack then removes her mual holding it ready in front of her before moving towards the temple, alert to danger.

"Snowhunter I don't mind a little light regardless of my ability to see in the dark," Jinx whispers as the party is moving forward. "Faen I don't mind you follow so close but make sure you stay far enough behind me so you don't get hit by anything I might trigger," she then adds.

The party attempts to move quietly along the path toward the temple, but the area is quite brightly lit by the mid-afternoon sun. As they come around a bend, the temple’s entrance comes into full view. A single tree, much larger than those around it juts from the ground. The path leads toward a wide mouth entrance, small unlit stone lanterns dot the path. Upon passing one, Jinx notices that a small glowing green flame ignites within. Near the tree entrance, there’s a pool of water that formed in a hollow area of the tree's trunk. It drains into another pool on the nearby ground below. The air here is warm and comfortable. There are songbirds whistling in the trees and a gentle breeze carries the aroma of thousands of beautiful flowers. There is no immediate sense of danger in this area. Jinx's perusal of the area reminds her some things she's heard about elven temples. First, they're almost entirely organic, very few stones or fires are used in the construction. Second, they often will be protected by spirit creatures summoned by a druidic caretaker. That might not be the case here, given how long the place has been abandoned. Finally, Griodori the sage is primarily recognized in its Unicorn avatar, but has also been known to take the form of a giant stag, a giant bear, and a giant owl. There are some depictions of these animals in wood carvings around the grove. While Jinx is investigating the grove area, what are Thokk, Dmitrei, and Faen doing?
Knowing that the Forest Temple is normally protected and associated with a Druid Dmitrei is going to looking around the building for any writing; specifically any writing in Druidic.
Dmitrei's search doesn't provide much; however, he finds a single hidden druidic symbol on a old moss covered tree stump with a few white mushrooms growing around its base. The symbol reads, 'Teleya.' Perhaps it's a name. Dmitrei isn't immediately familiar with it though.
The flickering green flames reflect deeply in Faen's own marvelously green eyes. The stone lanterns seem to also be emitting some odd buzzing sound. It's really distracting and this makes it hard for her to concentrate!
Thokk takes some of the pretty flowers and walks over to Faen, "Ummm," he says, "For you." His body stiff and awkward and his arm is straight out in a fist holding the flowers.
